Here are 12 things you may or may not know about Brims Ablaze
1. It’s Not Arson — It’s Art
We use precision tools to burn custom designs into hats, adding personality, symbolism, and edge.
2. Each Hat is a Canvas
Every hat is treated as a unique piece — no two designs are exactly alike.
3. Hand-Burned, Not Mass-Produced
All work is done by hand with care, intention, and a steady hand — no lasers, no shortcuts.
4. Provided Hats Only
We work exclusively on hats from our curated inventory. Each one is chosen for its quality, shape, and burn-readiness — no outside hats allowed.
5. Fire-Friendly Materials Only
We primarily work with felt, suede and wool hats. These provide the best quality burns!
6. Custom Designs Welcome
Whether it’s your initials, a spirit animal, a cosmic symbol, or a full-on western scene — we’ll sketch it, burn it, and make it yours.
7. No Spectators, Just Results
Burn sessions are closed to ensure focus and precision. You’ll see your hat when it’s finished — no peeking, no pressure, just pure craftsmanship. We do check in with you several times during the designing process, to ensure you like the elements and approximate placement, but the completed work, we want to surprise you!
8. We Honour Storytelling
Many clients come with a story behind the design — we’re here to help you wear that story proudly.
9. Patience Required, Perfection Delivered
Quality takes time. Most hats take a few hours to burn, depending on the complexity.
10. Fire as a Tool, Not a Gimmick
Our technique uses pyrography — an age-old art form of drawing with fire.
11. No Hat Too Weird
Wide brims, flat tops, vintage finds — the weirder the better. We love a challenge.
12. Burned to Last
Designs are permanent and weather the years with style, soul, and a little scorch.
