This weekend I attended my first-ever Haudenosaunee Beadwork Conference - the 17th edition, hosted by Kahnawà:ke!

One of the challenges I took on was beading the project using the size 8 beads provided, along with the pattern created by Trudy Jacobs. I really wanted to challenge myself to work outside of my usual materials and I really enjoyed the experience!

The only thing I added from my own supplies was the dyed yellow 6mm agate beads used on the fringe.

I also submitted my wall key holder to the beadwork contest, and it was entered in the Innovative category. It was such an honour to have my piece included alongside so many incredibly talented beadworkers.

I took a few photos of some of my favourite contest pieces to share. It was SO hard to vote as there were so many talented artists, creative ideas, and truly unique pieces! But really.. look at that teapot!! 🫖

I also got to reconnect with my cousin, Lorrie, who was actually one of my very first beadwork teachers. It was so special to share this experience with her and come full circle from those early days of learning.

Feeling grateful to have been able to attend, learn, challenge myself, and admire so much beautiful beadwork all in one place. Niawen’kó:wa to everyone who made this conference possible! 🪡❤️

I’m so excited to announce my first ever raffle! 🥰

The prize is a custom beaded wall key holder, inspired by the very first piece I made in my new home, and for myself.

I absolutely LOVE how this piece came out. It’s a beautiful, functional piece of beadwork that can be enjoyed every day.

The winner will get to choose their own colour scheme, but the beadwork will feature the same floral design, or something very similar. The piece will also be completed in October and delivery is included.

Studio Update #2

Beading has still been slow but here are a few things I’ve finished the last couple of weeks:
✨ A custom moccasin order
✨ An earring order
✨ A dreamcatcher car hanger (gift)

Slow progress is still progress!!

Next up on the list: beaded moccasins for a returning customer. She’s been so patient, and I’m looking forward to getting them started!
