Another successful and creative resin/glass workshop in Jasper! Thanks to Jasper Habitat for the Arts for the support and studio space. Except for the seahorses these are first time resin/glass artists and they all produced very creative and imaginative works. Well done everybody!

I call this one 'Three Quarter Earth", an addition to my Dark Sky Series. A grand experiment with resin dye, alcohol ink, mica powders, silicone oil and separate resin pours to get the Earth in shadow. Inspired by photos from the Artemis mission as it circled the moon and imagining the view as they came around out of the dark side of the moon to see a sunrise on the moon. And maybe they saw this Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) doing yet another orbit of the moon taking detailed photos that enable those NASA types to create moon maps and show us some remarkable pics of our lunar companion.

An experiment using charcoal powder mixed with solvent then highlighted with oil paints wet on wet. The charcoal/solvent mix is hard to control, had to paint it flat on table top. Get some interesting results though! Worth a couple more practice paintings. Inspired by the last (right hand dark one) from Doug Swinton who gave it a try based on his success using charcoal and acetone for figure paintings. See his work at DougSwitnonArt. Thanks Doug!

Recent resin/glass work, 'Across the Universe'. I love making these dark sky pieces. This one is a long thin window, about 5 feet by 16 inches, so it worked well for getting a deep space reffect receding across the three panes by using progressively smaller pieces. Some glitter and resin dye for the milky way and gas clouds, mica powder for planet Earth and a few satellites and space probes to finish it off!
