This is it folks ... Days of Yore has been one of my longest standing events, and this is its 10th year of operating, second at Heritage Park. Come find Gavin Hightree as he welcomes you to the reenactment field in the park. You'll see Vikings, Knights, Jousters, Free people of the fur trade, Highlanders, canons, soldiers and nurses of the First and Second World Wars, military vehicles, and Harvard aircraft flyovers ... to name a few things happening.

Colourful man, colourful music, and a jam packed audience for Gavin Hightree to greet at Heritage Park's Music in the Plaza free concert this past Wednesday. Kenny "Blues Boss" Wayne played 2 hours of music for the concert, which was also broadcast on CJSW Radio with host Cindy McLeod. It was an absolute treat to meet him and listen to him!

Gavin Hightree has the pleasure of hosting many musical acts this summer at Heritage Park, all world-class music, all live, and all free. Come down to Heritage Park on Wednesdays at 6 PM to listen to some incredible music, rain or shine!

It's been nearly a month since the High River Medieval Faire, but it was certainly a memorable one! Day 1 was absolutely gorgeous, and I met a number of joyful faire-goers and vendors with a ton of great vibes and energy. Mother Nature was extremely unfriendly on Day 2, but the people who came and the performers and vendors who remained kept the spirits incredibly high nonetheless.

Shoutout to the Arverni Legion for hosting an incredible faire, and to Splang: Angus and Dolina, Wizard and Raven and the Society of Tilt and Lance Cavalry for bringing the Ren Faire vibes even in the worst of the weather, and to all those vendors who toughed it out the best they could! Most importantly, shoutout to all those who came and kept the adventure alive!

Gavin Hightree greeted the Heritage Park Music in the Plaza audience as they enjoyed Tennyson King a couple of weeks ago. He and collaborator Chris Noble played on a beautiful evening, and since then Tennyson's music has been on my playlist. Tennyson is currently touring across Canada, but his stop in Calgary was a wonderful event on a beautiful day.

July has been a busy month for Gavin and Gorvin, and I haven't properly recapped everything, so I think it's time I do so. It was a pleasure to meet you Tennyson, and I hope the rest of your tour is going wonderfully!

Gorvin of Tallwood is heading north to Vegreville! The Vegreville Medieval Faire will see knights in combat once again, hosted by the Strathcona Warhorse! Come say hello to the Bard with the Bugle, and cheer on fighters as they face one another with buckler, sabre, polearm, sword and shield.

The Music in the Plaza series continues with Tennyson King tomorrow in the Engineered Air Plaza of Heritage Park! Gavin Hightree will be there once again to greet you! Bring your launch chairs, your sunscreen or shades, and your thirst for amazing music at this event that is free to the public!

Happy Canada Day, all! Gavin High tree had wonderful day at Heritage Park at the Didsbury Bandstand hosting the Calgary Police Service, Calgary Highlander and 78th Fraser Highlander Pipe Bands, the Steele Scouts, the Jing Wo Lion Dancers, the Scalplock Family Dancers (pictured is Fancy Dancer Georgi Scalplock), and the Dzvony Ukrainian Choir. A wonderful representation of the many cultures that have come together to form a great nation.

Then the evening took us inside (weather was again a factor), and we filled the Gasoline Alley Museum for the Misery Mountain Boys, who put on an incredible show! It was nearly standing room only, but there was still enough space for some swing dancing!

Heritage Park celebrates Canada Day in a big way, and I, Gavin Hightree, will be your Host at the Didsbury Bandstand and in the Engineered Air Plaza!

The Didsbury Bandstand will host the 78th Fraser Highlanders Youth Squad of Calgary, the Jing Wo Cultural Association, the Steele’s Scouts Commemorative Troop Association, Alex and Lori Scalplock, and the Dzvony Ukrainian Choir. “Now it’s your turn.”

That’s when their eyes go wide.

I may be a Saxon, but for over a decade I’ve stood shoulder to shoulder with the Ulfraendi.

Not as one of them.

As the voice that helps others step into their world.

I’ve watched them live under canvas, cook over open flame, and call the herds with haunting kulning that stops a crowd in its tracks.

I’ve stood behind the shield wall as steel met steel ...
.. and then assembled an army of wild-eyed children to face it down.

That’s where the Ulfraendi and Gorvin of Tallwood will be, bringing you back in time.

Not to watch. To be a part of it.

While the Jarl knows never to turn his back on the bard, nothing is more fearsome than four dozen tiny Vikings charging the field.

If you ever find yourself near the Ulfraendi, don’t just watch.
