🎶 *From Rio to late Soviet dreams…*

We’ll be playing “Manhã de Carnaval” from Black Orpheus — a film that brought the myth of Orpheus into the streets of Rio during Carnival, blending tragedy, color, and one of the most iconic soundtracks in cinema history.

On April 4, you’ll also hear music from Black Rose – Emblem of Sorrow, Red Rose – Emblem of Love — a bold, surreal manifesto of a collapsing world, where aristocratic ghosts meet underground rock and everything feels like the last dance before a new era.

✨ Plus:
– a song from the beloved Soviet cartoon *Umka*
– music set to poetry by Alexander Pushkin and Vladimir Mayakovsky
– bossa nova interpretations of Sade, Modern Talking, Sting, and Frank Sinatra

We say that how you start the New Year sets the tone for everything that follows.

If that’s true, Gentle Tides couldn’t have asked for a better beginning.
We welcomed the year on the stage of one of the city’s finest restaurants — playing music we love, with incredible musicians, for a responsive and attentive audience. We were so immersed in the music and in creating the atmosphere that we completely forgot to record anything 🙂

Gentle Tides is a smooth jazz project that started less than a year ago, and in that time we’ve played festivals, concert venues, corporate events, casinos, and intimate spaces across the city. The pace of growth is inspiring — and a little scary — but moments like this remind us why we do it.
