Celebrating its 14th year in 2023, HUFF is a boutique festival that celebrates songwriters and the songs they create. The Festival is the result of the ranting and reveries of the festival’s Artistic Director Mike Campbell. Long before he ever opened the doors of The Carleton, his dream was to present a festival that celebrates songwriters and the songs they have given us. Nine years ago, Campbell

made that dream come true, and HUFF was born. HUFF’s mandate, in addition to presenting and promoting professional songwriters in an urban downtown setting, is to provide opportunities for our artists here in Halifax to collaborate and perform with visiting headlining artists. The All-Stars is a band consisting of a rotation of some of Halifax’s most talented players, and is one of the most unique and revered features of the festival. Each visiting HUFF headliner arrives in Halifax to rehearse (at Joel Plaskett’s studio) and perform with their own specially curated All-Star band. As a result of these collaborative relationships we have seen some of our region’s brightest artists writing new material and playing with internationally renowned musicians, and creating lifelong creative partnerships.

News Bulletin! Due to unforeseen circumstances regarding the health of a member of The Motorleague, the band will have to pull out of tomorrow's HUFF performance with The Monoxides and The Orchids at The Seahorse Tavern. This is a large show to fill but we are lucky to have had not ONE but TWO of Halifax's best stepping to the plate to fulfill this night of music. Joining the show will be norc and The Royal Volts.
