Our 2 Year Anniversary Party is just around the corner, and we’re getting ready for a great night of live music, cold drinks, dancing, and celebrating with friends old and new down at the waterfront.

Musicians Corner - Cast Away Cafe starts the evening with a fun jam session before Shiretown takes over and keeps the party going late into the night.

There’s no Musicians Corner this Saturday but we will be returning next Saturday at a special time to help get the party started at the Cast Away Cafe 2 Year Anniversary Celebration on June 6th. 🎉

We will be hitting the stage around 8pm to open up for our hometown favourites - Shiretown! So come on out and make sure you bring your dancing shoes.💃🕺🎶

Okay Folks! 🎶

Thought we share the dates & times for the jams in June, July, August. Summer is just around the corner! 🌼

Starting out on June 6th is the Cast Away Cafe 2nd year anniversary (and actually our 6 month anniversary!) We were asked to open up the show for Shiretown, so this time we are moving the jam upstairs. The time will be 8-930pm. Come a little early if you plan to sing a song jus so we can figure out space/sound.

After that, all Jams will be downstairs, or we might choose to play outside in the beer garden if weather is good! Dates&Times are listed below:

June 20th - 4-6pm
July 4th - 4-6pm
July 18th - 6-8pm
August 8th - 4-6pm
August 22nd - 4-6pm

Please note- your welcome to set up early or stay later and keep the jam a going!

Come play a tune! It's always a good time!

We’re getting close to the 6 month anniversary of the Musicians Corner - Cast Away Cafe - where did that time go?!

We’ve had musicians join us from Guysborough, Bolyston, Whitehead, Sherbrooke, Lochaber, Antigonish, and as far as Cape Breton! That’s just to name a few of the places musicians have travelled from to join.

What started out as an idea to bring musicians together to connect and play in a low stress, casual environment, has grown into something not just for the musicians, but for the community itself.

By eliminating the stage atmosphere and sitting in amongst the patrons, playing in a stripped down environment, gives a traditional east coast kitchen party feel. If anything, the model is largely inspired by the ceilidhs we had out in Giant’s Lake, the community my sister and I were born and raised, where musicians in the community would set up similarly to the way we do and play well into the night. Community members would jump in the middle and sing and dance along. Shakers, spoons, and percussion instruments would be passed around to the young and the old to join in. And we do the same at the Cast Away.

And of course there’s also inspiration from pubs in Ireland, Scotland, Cape Breton, and other places where similar music sessions take place.

Anyone is allowed to join in. You don’t have to be the best singer or guitar player. It’s not about perfection, it’s about connection and all of us coming together to take part in something we all love.

Music is a medicine that inspires connection, joy, and community. And in a world faced by uncertainty, rising prices, and increasing isolation, it’s the little things like these music sessions that helps bring us together and let some of that weight off our shoulders so we can fully enjoy each others presence and company, despite all that is happening around us.

So if you haven’t had a chance to come down, here’s an invitation to join us. Come help add to the magic of Musicians Corner, down at Cast Away Cafe - a place inspired by and created for community. ❤️🎶

Welcome to the Musicians Corner at Cast Away Cafe ‘s official page!

We decided to make a page so we can share some of our jam sessions with you here on social media. Hopefully this will encourage more people to come out and join us.

Musicians Corner started back in January with sisters Cairista and Patty MacIsaac who wanted to get local musicians of all ages and skill levels together to play together in a low pressure environment. The Cast Away has created such an amazing community environment that it was the perfect place to create a place for us all to come together.

The goal isn’t perfection, it’s about connection!
