A big thank you to everyone who came out to Musician’s Corner yesterday! We will be back on July 4 from 4-6pm.

And where it’s Father’s Day today we want to wish all the dads and father figures out there a very Happy Father’s Day! 💙

Come join us this Saturday, June 20 from 4-6pm for Musicians Corner at the Cast Away Cafe ! 🌊🎶

We’ll be set up downstairs at the cafe in our usual spot. Bring along your instruments, friends and good cheer as we officially kick off the summer season. And also bring your dads!! Because what better way to treat your father than an evening full of good music, food, and drink.

The Cast Away will have a Father’s Day meal special on 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Choose from:
• Beer Can Chicken
• BBQ Ribs

Both served with loaded baked potato, mixed vegetables, and garlic toast.

🍺 The first 15 dads through the door will receive a complimentary tall can of Big Spruce beer with their dinner.

Then live music from one of Canada’s rising folk artists Mallory Chipman will take place from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM.

🎟️ No cover charge for for Musicians Corner or the Mallory Chipman show.

A throwback to last weekend where Musician’s Corner kicked off the Cast Away Cafe ‘s 2 Year Anniversary Celebrations!

Here’s Ralph DeCoste & Giggi Taylor with their rendition of “Dirty Old Town” - a song written by Ewan MacColl that has been covered by popular bands such as the Dubliners, the Pogues, and even Rod Stewart. ❤️🎶

Ralph will be starring in the upcoming Ships of 1801 Concert with showings on July 2, 3, 4, and 5 at the Schwartz Auditorium. Pop on over to their page for more information on the play and the locations you can purchase your tickets!

Alrighty folks, we have our summer schedule ready to go! 🌞🌊🎶

Here are our dates and times for June into September at the Cast Away Cafe . Where the days are getting longer and the weather is starting to warm up, we decided to move the jam sessions a little later in the day. So join us from 4-6pm!

Since it’s getting warmer out, we will have some of our sessions outside in the beer garden and on the not so great days, we will set up in our regular spot downstairs.

After the music stops, feel free to hang around and mingle for a social hour. This gives us a chance to chat and connect beyond the music.

On July 18th we will be playing a little later in the evening as part of the Guysborough Arts Festival celebrations. Our Fathers Fools is set to hit the main stage not long after we wrap up - a show you definitely do not want to miss! So get your tickets at the Cast Away before they go! Musicians Corner is free to attend, but the main show does require a ticket.

We will be taking breaks on the long weekends, hence the little mix up in the weekends in August, but we will be back in track again after the long weekend in September.

So come on out and join in on the fun! Open to musicians of all ages and skill levels - and of course, those who just want to come and enjoy the music and atmosphere. This is not about perfection or the pressure to perform, it’s about getting together and connecting over our shared love of music.

The Cast Away Cafe 2 Year Anniversary celebrations this past weekend brought in a great turnout, from locals, neighbouring counties, and travellers from away! To kick off the celebrations we had Sandra MacIsaac open up with the bagpipes, accompanied by her daughter Patty on the djembe, and her husband, Aird, on the bodhrán.

We have a couple more clips to add throughout the week, so stay tuned!

Again, a big thank you to Cary and the Cast Away crew for all their hard work and dedication in creating not just a cafe and pub, but a place for all of us to come together to share and celebrate this place we love and call home. ❤️🎶

Join us at the next Musician’s Corner on Saturday, June 20th from 4-6pm with a little social time afterwards for the musicians to hang out and chat. If the weather is nice, we’ll be set up outside in the beer garden. If not, you can find us downstairs set up in our regular spot. See you then! 🥰

Come join us down at the Cast Away Cafe for their 2 Year Anniversary celebration kicking off at 8pm with the Musician’s Corner crew and then Shiretown will take the stage to get us up moving and shaking. Stop by and have a bite to eat before the show begins. Zach and Cayden are holding it down in the kitchen and are grilling up some mean burgers. Definitely recommend coming a little early to fill your belly before the entertainment begins.
