Just the tip of the iceberg of my reasoning for not reading novels by white authors anymore. Should I make a more in-depth video for it? LMK

I’m thinking about doing a series on my page where I compare books/series with similar themes or elements. One by a white author and the other by a Black author.⁣

To start, if you loved the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series by Rick Riordan, you’ll love the Children of Blood and Bone series by Tomi Adeyemi. ⁣

There are elements of magical realism and incorporates West African Mythology like how the Percy Jackson series incorporated Greek Mythology. ⁣

It has a bad ass Black female lead who is a fierce warrior who must go on a mission to bring back magic to her people who have been oppressed by the monarch. ⁣

It is a total must read. Let me know if a should make a video series like this cuz I was thinking about it 🤔

Having fun isn’t hard when you have a library card! 😂Since the pandemic it’s been a while since I’ve gone to the library but I went to the Guelph Public Library the other day and checked out Lakewood by Megan Giddings. I’ll let you know how it goes.📚👩🏾‍🏫

I'm not one for non-fiction reading but I really love memoirs. There's just something about hearing a person's life story and how they became who they are. Here are three memoirs by some kick ass black women for ya'll.

1) Becoming by Michelle Obama
2) Mighty Be Our Powers by Leymah Gbowee
3) The Misadventures of an Awkward Black Girl by Issa Rae

Do you guys prefer reading hard copies or do you prefer to read on a device? Or maybe you prefer audiobooks? Honestly I love holding a book in my hand but I find I'll get through a book much faster if I read it on a device.

First book on my fall reading list! My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite.

“Korede’s sister Ayoola is many things: the favourite child, the beautiful one, possibly sociopathic. And now Ayoola’s third boyfriend in a row is dead, stabbed through the heart with Ayoola’s knife.”

I mean it’s got some of my favourite things in a book already: murder, mystery and romance 👀🤔

Going off the title alone, I think the sister might be a Gemini 😂

What do you guys think? 💭
