Working together with dancer and choreographer Lauren Foy, Alexandra and Lauren invite you to mix dance and cello like never before!
“The marriage of cello and dance has been done in so many beautiful ways. I had always admired the combination and desired to do it myself one day. With Cello Steps, not only am I making my dream a reality, I’m also putting together the tools so that other cellists
and other dancers can do this all over the world.” – Alexandra Lee
Dancer and choreographer Lauren Foy has created beautiful and flowing moves to the beloved "Prelude" from JS Bach's Cello Suite No. 1. Dance mobs are often done to pop music, but classical music invites our bodies to move and flow in sequences that are accessible to anyone. Lauren's choreography will cause the dance mob to move with the same beauty and grace as the murmuration of a flock of birds in the sky. Free online tutorials will be released soon! Stay posted for in-person rehearsals too! Stream the Bach "Prelude" for free from our website, www.cellosteps.com! If you are a cellist or a dancer who wants to organize your own Cello Steps, keep checking in as we compile a handy "how to" guide with tips on how to create this anywhere, anytime. There are several ways you can be involved:
• learn the moves to our DANCE MOB and come and dance with us this August in Sudbury!
• watch our performances online! We're working hard to get these performances filmed so that you can enjoy them forever.
• get together with other cellists and other dancers and create our own Cello Steps performance wherever you are!
