⏳❄️ RINK SEASON: LOADING…▰▰▱▱▱▱▱▱▱▱
Things are about to start moving quickly at La Palestre!

🧹 SUNDAY, SEPT. 27 | 1–5 PM
First up: RINK CLEAN-UP!
Come for an hour or stay for the afternoon, every extra set of hands helps us get the old barn ready for another season.

❄️ SEPT. 30 — PLANT ON!
It's confirmed!!! The refrigeration plant fires up and COOLING MODE officially begins!

💧 NEXT UP: ICE INSTALLATION…
We're aiming to begin our first base floods Oct. 1 evening and Oct. 2, followed by paint, lines and logos on Oct. 3.
Then we keep walking! 👟
Once the paint is down, we’ll continue building the ice layer by layer over the next few days until there’s enough for the Zamboni to take over.

👉 WATCH FOR A POST AFTER THE WEEKEND with confirmed times and volunteer spots for anyone willing to walk the slab and help us start building those first layers of ice.

No experience necessary, just some willing feet and a little patience while we perfect the fine art of watching water freeze. 😂

Cleanup → Cool Down → Flood → Freeze → ICE.

Next step in getting the old barn ready for ice: CLEANUP MODE! 🧹🫧

⏰ 1:00–5:00 PM

We’ll be sweeping, scrubbing, washing glass, tackling the stands, bathrooms and giving La Palestre the preseason once over.

🧹 Have some gear? Bring it along!
Extra push brooms, shop vacs ice cream pails and leaf blowers are always handy. We can also use a few cordless drills/impacts and basic hand tools to tighten up board screws and tackle those little maintenance jobs we find along the way. 🔧

The sooner we get CLEANUP MODE completed, the sooner we can move on to…

❄️ COOLING MODE.

We’ll happily say THANK YOU again! 🏒

We’re so grateful to see La Palestre and our ice plant project highlighted by ADAMA through their Stomping Grounds grant.

Their incredible $7,500 contribution brings us another step closer to replacing our aging ice plant and helping secure the future of our rink.

Thank you again, ADAMA, for recognizing just how important places like La Palestre are to small communities like ours.

ADAMA’s Ian Schafer and Jordan Brisebois presented a $7,500 Stomping Grounds grant to La Palestre Rink in Gravelbourg, helping the community get one step closer to replacing its aging ice plant.

While the ice plant may be behind the scenes, keeping it running is essential to keeping the rink open—and keeping a place where families gather and the community comes together.

🏒Wiping the slate clean!🏒

Every puck mark on these boards tells a story. It's a shot taken, a save made, a goal celebrated, a chance missed.

Now, we’re erasing the marks of last season. Not the memories or the lessons, but making room for what comes next.

There’s still plenty of prep ahead and in a little over a month, the plant will fire up and the process of building a new sheet of ice will begin.

One small step in getting the rink ready for another season. 🏒
