🎉 What a Season at La Palestre! 🎉
(long post, but no way I could trim this down!!)

This year was one for the books and it truly showed what community can do. 💙

Our arena advertising billboards SOLD OUT and we welcomed 11 new billboards on the AG wall! These local businesses and families are the reason we can keep the arena running, keeping the lights on and the lobbies warm (sometimes… maybe too warm 😅).
👉 Next time you’re at the rink, take a moment to check them all out and support those who support us!

We also saw some great facility upgrades this year:
• All exterior walls, roof, and doors updated
• New entrance doors with windows, bringing in beautiful natural light
• From the ref room to Dressing Room 4. After not loving the 2024 renos, PW and volunteers stepped up to create bright, welcoming spaces for both home teams and visitors 👏

We kicked things off by calling on all the “rink heroes” and wow, did the community answer!
Students from ÉGS showed up in a big way, followed by volunteer days with helping hands from ages 2 to 80. Together, we cleaned, prepped and got the ice ready. The positivity was felt right from day one.

• We hosted many tournaments and saw record ice rentals
• Every month of the 2025/26 season grew over the last (with December just shy thanks to those snowstorms ❄️)

Communication between user groups was better than ever, leading to the creation of the Palestre Pulse, a weekly newsletter keeping everyone in the loop and helping promote events across the rink community. You could feel the buzz around town with all the great things happening at La Palestre!

We saw:
• A fun Rink Burger Challenge 🍔
• Many amazing Kraft Hockeyville stories submitted, showcasing what the arena means to our community
• More people in the stands than ever before!
• User groups coming together to support the arena’s future

From that collaboration came the 50/50 fundraiser, raising an incredible $37,000+ for our new ice plant! Huge shoutout to the Curling Club for leading the charge, with all groups pitching in 👏

Some exciting additions this season:
• Shared U13 Ice Cats program
• 2 Girls on Ice camps
• An Ice Cats Alumni Game
• A new Skating Library from the Skating Club
• The return of the Kermit Shoot at Sr. Hornets games 🐸
• User groups worked together to cross-promote and schedule events creating full arena days! From hockey games to curling events to free skates, plus the lounge and kitchen open, weekends were bigger and more fun than ever!

Of course, no season comes without a few hiccups... fans, fuses, motors, leaks, creaks… even sprinklers! 😅
But every time, local trades, businesses and volunteers stepped up to keep things running smoothly.

💙 Community, collaboration and pride truly shone through this season.

Palestre Pulse – Big Things STILL Happening at the Rink! 🏒

⛸️ Skating Club wrapped up their season with a Winter Olympic-themed Carnival on March 19. Huge thanks to volunteers, coaches, families, Hornets Minor Hockey, our rink caretaker and sponsors.

🔥 U13 Finals: Series tied 1–1! Tuesday, March 24 @ 6 PM in Ponteix. Winner takes the SSHL championship! GOOD LUCK TEAM!!

We didn’t make the provincial winner this year, but your stories, photos and support have made La Palestre Arena more popular than ever!

We have momentum and we know our ice plant needs an upgrade. We’re committed to creating opportunities for our community to come together and make it happen.

We’ll try again in 2027! Congrats to Blaine Lake for rallying their community and winning the provincial $50,000!👏👏👏

🏒 THE SLOUGH SHARKS ARE COMING… 🦈

Yes, the team formerly known as TRIM…is taking over the Year-End Recreational Hockey Tournament on March 28th.

Expect:
Old-timers still convinced they can do a full slapshot… without pulling a muscle 🤕
Youthful players trying to keep up (mostly succeeding 🙃)
Endless “I skated better than McDavid… I got a better slapshot than Crosby!” declarations followed by a very gentle reminder that...
maybe not 😅

It’s lighthearted, all day fun. 100% recreational, 0% serious.
💥 Bring your skates, your sense of humor and maybe some ibuprofen.
