A yearly Literary Arts Festival in Fredericton, NB showcasing authors, vendors, readings, workshops, panel discussions and guest appearances that closes the event off with a spectacular Fantasy Ball. A yearly event showcasing authors, panel discussions, workshops, readings, vendors and special guest appearances.

No matter if you're an aspiring writer, an established author, a screenwriter, a pub

lisher or just a huge fan of all things books! Our festival has something for everyone!

At the Writers of the Realm, we welcome all genres of writing and encourage our local authors to provide a short reading of their books so guests can enjoy/get a taste of their work!

We have interactive exhibits for the book fans, a book-ish scavenger hunt, writing contests and educational panels/workshops that answer those annoying questions in your mind about writing! Our Day portion is open to the public of all ages, with door proceeds going to a local charity. The evening entertainment for this festival is our spectacular Fantasy Bookish Ball! This year, the theme is etherial/celestial, which we are calling the Serenity Ball featuring Music by Maritime Fav DJ Fayder!!

This part of our event is ticketed, with formal attire required, 19+ and sure to be an enchanting evening of dancing, oracle readings, contests, delightful desserts, an interactive royal court cast, and so much more! Tickets for the Fantasy Ball will go on sale Friday, January 16th, 2026!! Festival Portion Runs: 10am-4pm

We can’t believe it! There are only 28 tickets left for our Serenity Ball, A Writers of the Realm Festival event happening this September 19th 2026!! We are excited to welcome you all to the Lunar Kingdom for an evening of dancing, shopping, oracle readings, interactive activities and of course our Royal Cast who can’t wait to meet you all. Author Kate Somers has loved historical fiction for as long as she can remember. An avid reader and writer of fiction, she took a novel-writing course in 2020 and soon after wrote The Bristol Scholar. Kate aims to incorporate real, raw, and relatable characters into her writing, drawing on her own experiences to connect with her readers!

Born and raised in Woodstock, New Brunswick, author Angela Harrington has always been fascinated by the power of words and their ability to transport us to different places, perspectives, and experiences. She is drawn to personal stories and often finds herself wondering what motivates people to make the choices they do and how those choices shape their lives.
Her writing explores the complex relationship between individual decisions and the environments that influence them. Through character-driven stories, she examines the emotional and often difficult choices people face, revealing how relationships, circumstances, and personal experiences shape who they become. At the heart of her work is a curiosity about human nature and the stories that connect us.

Author Announcement!!

Lina Gardiner Author is an award-winning author best known for the Jess Vandermire Vampire Hunter Series. The first novel in the series, Grave Illusions, received the Romance Writers of America (RWA) Kiss of Death Chapter’s Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in the Paranormal, Time Travel, and Futuristic category, along with numerous other honours. Lina’s work has earned praise from respected reviewers, including Kirkus Reviews, USA Today’s HEA blog, and Romantic Times Book Reviews, where her novels received 4.5-star ratings.
On the home front, Lina Lives in New Brunswick, Canada, a hot spot for legendary ghosts, tall tales and odd happenings, which probably add to her love of a good mystery. The spooky stories her grandfather told his grandchildren in the "parlour" when their grandmother wasn't paying attention also sparked the wonders of imagination and a love of storytelling.

Don Bourque, Author lives in Maple Hills, New Brunswick; it was Irishtown when he moved there in 1996. His writing "career" began by winning a Grade 9 essay contest, and a Grade 12 teacher who encouraged him to never stop writing. Now, he is the author of multiple works, including a collection of unpublished poetry. He's written a chapter for the nonfiction collection In Harm’s Way, Serving the Greater Good: Perspectives on Operational Duty (2006) and the YA fantasy Willow’s Wake Trilogy: Willow: Awakened, Ascended, Avenged (2021), The Grand Chieftain (2023), and The High Priestess (2023).

Don has also worked in public education, in the private mental health sector, and spent thirty-seven years in the Army Reserve with an operational tour in Afghanistan. These experiences, plus his studies in sociology, anthropology, and psychology, inform his writing of fantasy and science fiction.

Fun Fact: Don is also the President of the Writers' Federation of New Brunswick . We are happy to have his support for our festival and excited to have him join us on a very special author panel happening at our event!! More details to come!
