🎤🎶BAND SPOTLIGHT – CAPITAL 6🎶🎤

Capital 6, an instrumental funk/jazz band from Fredericton, New Brunswick, is a fusion of musical mastery and friendship. Formed in the summer of 2018, the group brings together six seasoned musicians, each with a rich history in diverse musical backgrounds.

In 2020, Capital 6 released their first album, On the One. This album found an audience in the jazz scene, charting nationally on campus radio - peaking at #1 in August of that year. In August of 2024, they released their 2nd studio album, Not My One, welcoming Connor Fox to the lineup as their new guitarist. The album received 2 ECMA nominations in 2025 - Fusion Release of the Year, and Jazz Release of the Year.

Made up of Andrew DeMerchant (drums), Will Pacey (bass), Connor Fox (guitar), Jeannine Gallant (trombone), Kelly Waterhouse (sax/flute), Matte Robinson (trumpet), the band has an extremely diverse background. Their influences range from punk to jazz, country to metal, and everything in between, making their music transcend boundaries and genres.

Together, these six musicians create an innovative sonic landscape. Their collective history, playing from church basements to main stages across Canada, helps to feed their music. In Capital 6, they find common ground where their diverse backgrounds and mutual respect for each other's talents coalesce into a sound that is both fresh and familiar. This bond, strengthened by years of friendship and collaboration, is the essence of their music – a testament to their dedication to exploring new musical territories.
