Today is the Day of Remembrance for the Holodomor (genocide by starvation) in Ukraine in the early 1930's during the period of Stalin's rule and the collectivization of farming in the USSR. It is a history that is not widely known, but helps to give context to the current aggression by the Russian government to annex the country and its resources.

Beverley Glenn Copeland modelled for this hand portrait in 2018. Now there is a an 85 foot art installation and film available for viewing at the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
