Melody Lapp. Edmonton Artist.

Melody Lapp. Edmonton Artist. Local Edmonton artist/painter, working mainly with acrylic, alcohol inks, and watercolour. I take commissions, and donate artwork to various charities.

I see art in everything. Every word spoken, every action, every image, every sound. Honestly, I didn't start painting until my early teens, but I have always seen the world with wonder and facination. I used to collect rocks because i thought they were so beautiful, and then I couldn't understand why no one wanted to buy them :) When I look at an image, or the world around me, I see everything in

blocks of colour. Not necessarily the colour they are, but my mind automatically seperates what I see into parts and each part has a colour. I think that if I didn't paint this "ability" would drive me insane. Painting is my therapy in so many ways. However, painting isn't my only outlet. I love to play with textiles (knitting, crocheting, sewing), sculpt, and take what would be considered garbage and create with it. Oddly enough, I do not know how to draw. I actually don't know how. It doesn't come naturally to me at all, so my paintings begin and end as paintings. I want to use this page not only to promote myself, but to promote all of the amazing talent in my city. I hope to celebrate all artists.

**I DO NOT believe that a person has to be wealthy to purchase original art, and I price my work with this belief in mind**

Layer #2. 1 more and then outline. Which used to be my favourite part... But now it's the hardest. I'll do my best. 🤷🏼

First layer done. It's super messy at the moment, but it won't be for long.

As I've mentioned before, I haven't been able to paint with a brush for 7-8 months due to an injury in my right shoulder. My hand goes numb, I feel electric shocks in my fingers, my hand shakes.
Anyway... I needed to try. This is my first attempt. It isn't finished yet, but so far through this process I have learned different ways to hold and use a brush. Although it isn't as smooth as my work before the injury, I feel a bit more confident now to start painting with a brush again, AND to start a commission from months ago.
Thank you for being so patient, Terry ❤️
