Last week’s concert featuring GFA winner Leonela Alejandro was an absolute success! ✨
We are incredibly grateful to for sharing her artistry with us through both her stunning performance and inspiring masterclass. It was truly a memorable time spent together, filled with beautiful music and meaningful moments.
We’re also thrilled that so many people were able to attend, experience her remarkable talent, and be part of such a special event. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this occasion so unforgettable!

We were so impressed by their wonderful performance and thoughtfully chosen contemporary repertoire, which brought something fresh and unusual to our audience — music that may not have been familiar to many, yet was immediately engaging. Their artistry, sensitivity, and innovation shone throughout the evening, drawing listeners into new and exciting sound worlds.

Join us on February 20th at 7:30 pm at Holy Trinity Anglican Church for an exciting evening with Duo Nebula.

Duo Nebula brings together the visionary talents of Tyson Oatway and Marek Orszulik — two accomplished performers and dedicated teachers who share a passion for vibrant and unconventional repertoire.

As a duo, they light up the stage with creativity, depth, and bold musical choices that move beyond the traditional.

Tyson completed his MMus at the University of Alberta in 2013 under Carl Lotsberg and is the director of the guitar program at the Suzuki Charter School.

Marek completed his MMus at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2007 under Mark Ashford and has collaborated with some of today’s most innovative composers, bringing their works vividly to life.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a night of improvised music! Internationally acclaimed guitarist and visual artist Jessica Ackerley returns to their hometown to work with an incredible group – Jairus Sharif from Calgary, and local favourites Mustafa Rafiq, and Ron de Jong. Their two-part set will begin with a solo guitar performance by Jessica Ackerley, followed by a group improvisation for quartet. Inspired by travels in the High Arctic, as well as the incredible natural environment of this province, the group will create something extremely special.

NME is also pleased to present a special guest for the evening, Jared Epp. Quickly becoming a key part of the experimental scene here as performer and presenter, Jared Epp is also a filmmaker, visual artist, and anthropology scholar. For this performance, he will premiere the first iteration of aggressive relaxation music, in which drones, noise, feedback and ambience, experienced like being under a waterfall!

What an afternoon at LibĂŠrta Coffee Lab!
Yesterday’s open mic was such a joy — it was fantastic to see so many people come out and to hear so many players perform so beautifully. The level was incredibly high, and the coffee was delicious as always ☕

Huge thanks to Libérta Coffee Lab for hosting us, and to the wonderful community of players and listeners we’re lucky to have here in Edmonton. The Classical Guitar Society is so happy to see this community growing and thriving.
