This piece is part of the “Depression Lies” series. It contains an underpainting (see third photo), which was completed during a major bout of clinical depression. The painting on top was completed during brighter times. This piece serves as a reminder that, though the darkness of depression may still sit below the surface in those of us who deal with clinical depression, it is possible to feel and live a bright and colourful life filled with joy and hope. There’s a light. Sometimes, it can be hard to see, but it’s always there, just waiting to be revealed. Depression lies. Believe it.
