🦐 Out of SaltyShrimp GH/KH+? We’ve Got an Alternative.

If you use SaltyShrimp Mineral GH/KH+ to remineralize RO water for your Neocaridina shrimp, you may be wondering:

Can Shrimp Expert Neohabitat Mineral be used instead?

👉 Yes — they’re remarkably similar in what they’re designed to do.

Both products are designed to remineralize water for shrimp while providing:

🧪 Calcium & Magnesium — essential for healthy growth and successful molts
⚡ Potassium & Sodium — important electrolytes
🔬 Trace Elements — to support overall shrimp health
💧 GH + KH buffering — unlike a GH-only remineralizer

The KH/GH ratios are also very close:

SaltyShrimp GH/KH+
≈ 1 part KH for every 2 parts GH

Shrimp Expert Neohabitat Mineral
≈ 0.58 parts KH for every 1 part GH

So while they aren't chemically identical, they're designed to accomplish very much the same thing: remineralize low-mineral/RO water while maintaining both GH and KH for Neocaridina.

🦐 Which means…

If you're currently using SaltyShrimp GH/KH+ and you've run out, Shrimp Expert Neohabitat Mineral is a very reasonable alternative.

And that's especially useful if you're already shopping at The Wet Leaf — we have plenty of Neohabitat in stock. 😉

We got some of our shipping rates sorted. 😀

Rates only apply to plants and shrimp, anything else in your cart will bring up regular shipping rates.

These are great rates! Particularly for the people of western Canada. 😘

Quebec and east we haven't forgot about you, just haven't figured it out yet! 🥸 It's a big country, shipping if not what it was 10 years ago.

Also SHOP15 still works at check out😉

# # # Shipping Rates in Canada 🇨🇦

Lately, we’ve been seeing some **crazy shipping rates**, and we’ve heard from quite a few customers who have noticed the same thing—especially when shipping to Ontario and further east.

All of our shipping rates are calculated **in real time**, so the prices you see at checkout are the actual rates provided by Canada Post and couriers such as UPS, Purolator, etc. We don’t mark these rates up.

We’ve also checked what some of our competitors are charging, and interestingly, shipping from Ontario to Calgary is costing roughly the same—and in some cases, **our rates are actually a little cheaper**.

There is one important thing to keep in mind: **the higher rates you’re seeing are primarily for Express, Xpresspost, and Priority services**—the faster shipping options that are suitable for sending **live aquarium plants and shrimp**.

We also have **reduced shipping tiers based on your province**, so shipping costs will start to improve as your cart reaches certain thresholds, such as **$50 and $100**.

We’re not exactly sure what’s going on with shipping rates across Canada right now, but it definitely seems like they’ve gotten out of hand. 😬

**Please bear with us while we work on finding better shipping options and rates for our customers.** We’re actively looking into alternatives and will keep you posted!

Thanks for your understanding and continued support! 💚

🦐 Give Your Neocaridina the Water They’re Built For! 🌿
Introducing Shrimp Expert Neohabitat Mineral — formulated around the mineral balance found in Taiwanese mountain spring water to help recreate the natural conditions Neocaridina shrimp thrive in.

💧 Why we like it:
• Balanced calcium & magnesium for healthy growth and moulting
• Supports stable water chemistry
• Rapidly dissolving fine powder
• Designed specifically for Neocaridina shrimp
• Adjustable TDS depending on the stage of your shrimp colony
• Great for everyday maintenance and breeding

At the standard dosage, it targets approximately 260–270 ppm TDS, with recommended ranges from 180–360 ppm depending on your shrimp and breeding goals.
