Join us for ArtistSpeak* – Parenthood! An evening of conversation, performance, and creative pause exploring how parenthood, family, and caregiving reshape artistic identity, time, ambition, and care.

Together, we’ll explore pregnancy, caregiving, chosen family, fertility, the decision not to parent, and the many ways artists navigate making work while caring for others and themselves.

Meet Featured Artist Aditya (Adi) Chaudhuri !

Aditya Chaudhuri is a Calgary-based vocalist whose work bridges Hindustani classical tradition with contemporary influences including jazz, Bollywood, and popular music.

A dedicated performer, educator, and arts leader, Adi has spent more than a decade immersed in classical vocal training while helping create innovative, genre-spanning musical experiences. As President of Raga Mala Calgary, he also plays a vital role in fostering cultural exchange, artistic learning, and community through music.

Virginia Jessica Sparvier-Wells is a Cree multidisciplinary artist whose work explores land, language, identity, memory, and connection through music, dance, sound, and storytelling.

A classically trained flutist, composer, curator, and arts leader, Virginia's practice brings together Indigenous knowledge, contemporary artistic expression, and lived experience. Her award-winning work invites audiences to engage deeply with place, culture, and the stories that shape us.

Meet Featured Artist Wakefield Brewster !

Wakefield Brewster is one of Canada's most celebrated performance poets, known for bringing together poetry, healing, mentorship, and community through the power of words.

Calgary's first three-time Poetry Slam Champion and the city's sixth Poet Laureate, Wakefield has spent decades building connection through storytelling and spoken word. Beyond the stage, he is a mentor, advocate, healer, and community leader whose work continues to impact countless lives across Calgary and beyond.

Meet Featured Artist Denise Clarke!

Denise Clarke is an acclaimed theatre artist, choreographer, actor, director, playwright, and teacher whose influence on Calgary's arts community spans generations.

As a founding member and Associate Artist of One Yellow Rabbit , Denise has helped shape the city's cultural landscape through her artistic work, mentorship, and leadership. Her contributions have been recognized with numerous honours, including the Order of Canada and the City of Calgary Mayor's Distinguished Artist Award.

Meet Featured Artist Pam Rocker

Pam Rocker (she/her) is an American/Canadian firebrand—Certified DEIB Specialist, consultant, performer, and writer who blends advocacy with humour. From Pride parades to Parliament Hill, she’s done everything from fronting a q***r feminist ukulele comedy band to helping push for federal legislation banning conversion therapy.

Having recently trained at legendary Los Angeles comedy institutions (UCB, The Groundlings), Pam is passionate about weaving laughter and groundedness into everything she does. She is the Director of Affirming Connections, a member of The Kinkonauts improv group; a proud WordFest host; and a consultant to organizations across North America to spark courageous conversations.

At ArtistSpeak* – Social Media, Pam will join us for a conversation about intentional online spaces, authenticity, community, and the realities of how social media shapes the way we connect with one another.
