Calgary's Asian Heritage Month (AHM) features special International Games Days and community events in Chinatown of 17th May from 10-4pm, designed to celebrate and share traditional Asian cultural games and activities for all ages.
This day achieved shared understanding of Playing traditional Asian cultural games such as Mahjong, Chinese Chess, Patintero, and Snakes and Ladders and many many more .
Attendees experienced vibrant entertainment and shared learning via traditional performances like lion dancing, martial arts demonstrations, Indian dances folk- classical and live cultural drumming.
Games hosted across community hubs, with outdoor festivities at Sien Lok Park (South) and indoor/associated events at the Calgary Chinese Elderly Citizens Association (CCECA) or local spots like The New Gallery.
These play days are free, public, and tailored for kids, youth, families, and seniors of all backgrounds to learn and connect
More than a dozen linguistic as well as cultural organizations came together from 8 am and offered services to make this event a great sucess in all odds of weather that Calgary usually throws at us - Unexpectedly !
These Games offered universal play rules that welcome people of all cultural backgrounds, promoting mutual empathy and tolerance about the diversity we see around us as Calgarians .
We learnt ,"Resin balloons of Indonesia" typically refers to handmade resin balloon animal sculptures produced by Indonesian artisans, and DIY "plastic balloon" kits (also known as nano tape balloons or balloon paste) were also available for try outs ! highly popular across Southeast Asia.
HHS proudly provided volunteers, services for this event as well as participated in language session , Games implementations and the cultural aspects of this reuniting day .
