Rick Buckman Coe
is a singer songwriter captivating contemporary audiences with his unique blend of soul reggae folk funk and dub. A Roots music artist with a global sensitivities. Drawing from Soul, Americana, funk and Reggae, Buckman Coe’s music always seeks to uplift while forwarding messages of togetherness and social justice.
His 2016 release Malama Ka ’Aina – a Hawaiian phrase meaning to respect the land – is a gorgeous fusion of reggae, soul, and world music. With the masterful production by global/electronic artist Adham Shaikh and Jason Kechely, Coe creates ethereal, soul-drenched vocals that soar over arrangements celebrating the awakening of social consciousness and global unity. It was nominated in the Western Canadian Music Awards for World Album of the Year 2016, and was in the top 10 World Charts in College and Community Radio in the USA.
Over the past 7 years of touring Canada, Hawaii, Oregon, Australia, Indonesia, and Taiwan, Buckman Coe has established a reputation for high-energy, uplifting, horn-infused Roots Rock Reggae. At the same time, he has remained engaged in social and ecological justice movements as a citizen and as a musician writing for various frontlines and initiatives, and performing at rallies and fundraisers. This has made him an artist with a wide repertoire and adaptability as a big band leader and solo artist.
