Pink Night - 2021

It’s always nice when I get into a painting rhythm. It makes me remember how at peace and in the moment I am when I have a brush on canvas. Realistically, I haven’t had a paint rhythm (that’s what I’m calling it) like this in years. I’ve always enjoyed painting but when I get overwhelmed, it gets difficult to enjoy it, it gets difficult to enjoy a lot of things.

Painting gives me peace, when my mind calms down and I can take a breath and enjoy it. But those moments of peace are nice.

It’s been a minute (more like YEARS, but go off, sis) since I’ve put a pencil to paper and produced something….☺️☺️ feeling. Even just to draw again is pretty therapeutic!

It’s been a long ass while since I’ve drawn…ANYTHING 🤣 so, let’s start with hands! What a first attempt!!!!

Part of me wants to draw smaller, but another part of me is like “FILL THE DAMN PAGE! I PAID FOR THIS!” 🥲

HORRAY! This painting has hands down been the most stressful painting I’ve ever done. I started this painting a few years ago, and the whole process never felt right. I changed the concept over and over again. Originally, this was supposed to be a cityscape!! Which you can see in my profile.

The final product is something I’m extremely proud of (deadass cried) this painting was almost like a looming, chore that would taunt me constantly. It’s not great having the hobby you love feel like a chore... the feel of this definitely doesn’t feel that way now.

I’m happy that it turned out so well, it’s also my biggest piece it’s over 6ft wide! I will measure at a later date lol. (Sticky note for size reference)

I definitely wanna do more art, I feel like I’ve accomplished something I thought I never could do. That’s pretty cool!

I’ve been really itching to paint recently, to the point where it’s the first thing I think about in the morning, and it’s in the back of my mind all Damn day!

Art isn’t supposed to be perfect, and letting go of that is more of a blessing every time I do it. I used to think my art had to be perfect or look a certain way. And this actually stressed me the f**k out and I would overthink it so much I would talk myself out of painting. I’m taking the time to almost, relearn how to just enjoy what I create and trust the process.
