Calgary, you showed UP ❄️

Chinook Blast 2026 is in the books, and what a ride it’s been.

Eau Claire Plaza transformed into a full-on light-up playground, packed with world-class talent, community energy, and winter magic at every turn.

Family Day Long Weekend closed us out in style with stacked lineups, day and night performances, and a mix of new discoveries and festival favourites.

It was a Chinook-fueled season from start to finish and we’re riding this momentum straight into spring.

Last call, Calgary!

We’re wrapping up Family Day with an afternoon packed with good vibes and solid beats.

🕛 Noon – 4 PM
Kicking things off, two powerhouse artists from Ethnik Festivals take the stage: Afropop sensation Skinny Blaiz and R&B singer/songwriter Ray Val 🔥

Then, Dhanak will bring the Bollywood Jam, blending contemporary South Asian sounds with high-energy pop you’ll feel.

Closing us out, DJ Jadé takes over with her signature genre-bending sound to end the festival on a high note 🎶

Plus, keep an eye out for Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and Kristoff from YYC Princess, along with roving puppeteers from the Festival of Animated Objects! In the artists' tent, Green Fools will be bringing us a fun Child Complaint Letter activation. 📝

Saturday was a full-on Valentine’s swoon sesh. Blue Jay Sessions brought the love (and the heartbreak) with Amped Up! ❤️‍🔥

Huge shoutout to Maddie Lee Mars, Cruz Vallis, CELIN, KTheChosen, Clay Bolen, and Megan Paige for delivering romantic hits and heartbreak anthems that had us in our feels.

Today, YYC Music Awards takes over the RISE UP Community Stage with a stacked genre-spanning showcase!

Over at the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre, the Chinese New Year Festival continues with Dragon and Lion Dances, performances, a market and more! (11 AM – 5 PM)

Don't miss your chance to skate during Chinook Blast!

The weather is warm, but the ice is solid. 🧊 Plus, the first 50 skate rentals are free, thanks to our Skate Hut sponsor, Alberta Blue Cross (first come, first serve).

You can also try ice bikes! A fun and accessible way to glide across the ice (helmets are mandatory for riders under 18; please bring your own, as rentals are not available).

We rang in Lunar New Year 2026 in the best way possible 🧧❄️

The day began with a special unveiling: a hand-carved ice sculpture created by master sculptors from Heilongjiang, China, presented by Calgary Chinatown BIA and valued partners. The piece, a cowboy, was a perfect tribute to both Calgary and the Year of the Horse. 🤠

The Asian Heritage Foundation lit up the RISE UP Community Stage with 14 unforgettable performances celebrating the richness and diversity of Asian Canadian cultures. 🙌

Up next: TONIGHT (6–10 PM) Blue Jay Sessions takes over the mainstage with six incredible artists. It’s basically your Valentine’s Day plans sorted, live music, great vibes, and your favourite people. 💕
