When the internet hands you a chance to turn yourself into a slightly exaggerated, big-energy version of you… you take it. 😂

I’m loving how these caricatures capture personality and passion! Accurately representing my love for my kids (including Oakley 🐾), sports and highland dance (duh!)

Not so sure it captured highland arm positions (what *is* she doing with her arms?) or highland shoes 🫣 but...close enough.

So yes, I jumped on the trend. No regrets. 😉

As the Christmas break approaches, it's important to have some down time from highland dance. Rest is part of training...even if it feels wrong. 😂

Practice builds skills, but rest builds 💪 dancers. It's how muscles recover, brains remember steps, and we avoid tripping over absolutely nothing.

So, if the ghillies are off a bit over the holidays, don't fret - that's still dance training. 😉

Happiness, as a highland dance teacher, lives in the quiet moments most people never see - the soft "I did it" whispered after a dancer finally nails their fling turn, the smiles before *and* after a tough class, the confidence of stepping out to perform in front of 100's of people, and the way our studio fills with tiny bursts of pride and courage. ✨

At AAHD, happiness is watching dancers grow into their full potential - step by step, year by year - and realizing I get to walk beside them through it all. 🥹 It's the honour of cheering for their victories, picking them up through the challenges and witnessing the joy that highland dance brings into their lives.

That's the kind of happiness that stays with you long after the music stops. 💜

Parents, I say this with love: please don’t compare your dancer to someone else’s.

The magic of highland dance is that every dancer grows at their own pace.

Some leap like gazelles, some hop like overly enthusiastic kangaroos & some are still sorting out left vs. right (honestly… relatable). 😉

Your dancer is learning, progressing, & doing incredible things — their way, their speed.
Celebrate the tiny wins, the a-ha moments, the wobbles & the victories. They all matter. 💜

Let’s keep the joy where it belongs — with your amazing dancer.

And if we must compare anything… it can be who wore the cutest socks this week. 😉🕺✨
