To my Scottish dad, you would have been 96 today.

I remember you well, these days gone by
Even though we’re far apart
Your kind and gentle ways
Your tender, loving, child-like heart
A heart that held such compassion
For all of nature’s grand
A heart that held such beauty
For all of nature’s plan

Words you wrote expressed such awe
And wonderment sublime
And opened up my mind to think
Of new and wondrous ways to rhyme

I can still hear your voice as you recite
The Cremation of Sam McGee
Or the poem you would read
About the polar bear and the flee

Memories n’er to faint or fade
As time keeps ticking on its way
When at last we meet again

One bright and sunny day
