So I painted this one during the Idle No More protested in 2012 because of legislative abuses of Indigenous treaty rights by then Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Conservative federal government. The principal was that water is sacred, non-negotiable, and vital to the survival of all creation.
With the Water not Coal petition and the UCP government’s disrespect for treaty land in Alberta , I think my painting, has not lost it’s relevance.

My studio has always been small but it now houses my sunroom plants during the winter. Little room to create.
I am also waiting for eye surgery so the actual creating is limited. Instead I have taken up awakening my French language skills and playing an instrument.
