Dungkar Estate is honored to host the Global GNH Forum 2025. The four-day forum marks 50 years of Gross National Happiness and honors the 70th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. This first-ever Global GNH Forum will become an annual international gathering to advance conversations on happiness, sustainability, and human wellbeing.

The opening session is graced by Her Majesty Queen Mother Tseyring Pem Wangchuck and Her Royal Highness Princess Kesang Chodren Wangchuck. The Forum also witnessed the launch of the Global GNH Forum website and the book Precious Garland of Incarnations, composed by Trulku Kunga Tenzin. Over the coming days, discussions will explore wellbeing economies, climate justice, education and happiness, and the role of civil society in promoting GNH values, through panels, fireside talks, and human library exchanges.

Today we opened a new space at Dungkar Estate with the Managing Director and the venerable Lam of Ugyen Guru Lhakhang. The old construction project office has been transformed into a place where residents and visitors can discover the story of His Majesty’s vision, realized through the dedication of Bhutanese from every corner of the country.

This space is a heartfelt tribute to His Majesty’s noble vision and to everyone who came together to make it possible. Above all, it is a tribute to Dungkar Dzong, a symbol of unity and devotion.

Pangbisa Parents Show Gratitude with Fresh Vegetables

In Pangbisa, parents came together in a spirit of warmth and gratitude, offering fresh vegetables from their fields to Dungkar Estate. The gesture was made to thank His Majesty The King for granting the continuation of the school bus service as Soelra, and to acknowledge the Estate for helping ensure its smooth operation.

For many families, the dedicated bus service has eased the challenges of daily travel, providing children with a safe and reliable way to reach school. Parents shared that the support has brought peace of mind and strengthened the sense of community in Pangbisa.

By bringing what they grow with their own hands, the parents wished to express thanks in the most heartfelt way possible. The vegetables carried the essence of their daily lives and symbolized their appreciation for the care shown towards their children’s well-being.

The offering is a reminder of the deep values of reciprocity and togetherness that His Majesty’s kindness continues to inspire in communities across Bhutan.

DSP Solar Initiative, in collaboration with the Dungkar Estate, successfully commissioned another 334.64 kW rooftop solar system today under the Phase 3 Solar Initiative Project.

This milestone marks an important step in our journey toward energy self-sufficiency. The commissioning of another 334.64 kW rooftop solar system under the DSP Solar Initiative now brings Dungkar Estate’s total rooftop solar capacity to 3.1 MW.

Our partnership with the DSP Solar Initiative continues to play a vital role in making Dungkar Estate self-sustainable in clean energy and in setting an example for how collaborative efforts can advance Bhutan’s renewable future.
