OPENING TOMORROW ✨

Understanding Two Views brings together collaborative works by Sue Bennett-Williams and Jason Bennett, merging illustration and abstraction into richly layered mixed-media compositions on wood panel. Rooted in shared experiences of landscape in The Bahamas and Seattle, the exhibition explores dialogue across generations, geographies, and ways of seeing—constructed yet organic, imagined yet deeply grounded.

Join us Friday, March 13, from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM at The Current: ECCHO (Grand Hyatt East Terrace). Both artists will join virtually from Seattle for live dialogue.

Free and open to the public.

The Current is proud to present Understanding Two Views, a duo exhibition of collaborative works by Jason Bennett and Sue Bennett-Williams.

Join us for the opening reception on March 13th, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Current: ECCHO (Grand Hyatt East Terrace) to experience this dynamic series.

In Understanding Two Views, mother and son merge abstraction and illustration into richly layered mixed-media works on wood panel. Inspired by shared outdoor excursions through Seattle and The Bahamas, Bennett’s photographic collage and gestural, topographic grounds intertwine with Bennett-Williams’ luminous mangroves, corals, botanicals, and subtle references to island fauna. The works unfold as conversations across generations and geographies—constructed yet organic, imagined yet deeply rooted.

For this special opening, guests will be invited into a unique meta experience: both artists will join virtually from their studios in Seattle, offering live dialogue, insight into their process, and an intimate look at the spaces where the works were created.

Now on view: Tidal Imprints — presented as part of the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas’ Double Dutch programme, this exhibition brings together photographic works by Melissa Alcena (The Bahamas) and Cédrine Scheidig (Martinique).

Through their lens-based practices, both artists explore personal and collective memory, rituals of identity, and the layered histories that shape Caribbean spaces. Their photographs move beyond postcard visions of the region, capturing intimate, often overlooked moments that speak to belonging, inheritance, and the quiet complexities of island life.

Visit us at The Suite at The Current: ECCHO to experience the exhibition before it closes on April 19th, 2026. Admission is free and open to the public—stop by during our operating hours.
