Em 2010, as coreógrafas Marcela Levi (Rio de Janeiro, Brasil) e Lucía Russo (Patagônia, Argentina) fundaram, no Rio de Janeiro, a Improvável Produções. Levi & Russo apostam em uma direção polifônica em que diferentes posições inventivas se entrecruzam em um processo que acolhe linhas desviantes, dissenso e diferenças internas como força crítica construtiva e não como polaridades autoexcludentes. O
trabalho da Improvável vai ao encontro de uma estética experimental que surge de um encontro singular com os impasses da sociedade brasileira. Aí reside um esforço rigoroso em, em vez de sucumbir, transformar os embaraços e as tensões na própria matéria de uma produção artística. A Improvável é responsável, entre outros, pela concepção, criação e produção das peças de dança "Natureza Monstruosa" (Fomento à Dança, SMC RJ, 2011 + Iberescena 2011 + Circuito Estadual das Artes, SEC 2012); “Mordedores” incluído na lista do jornal O Globo como um dos espetáculos de dança de destaque em 2015 (Coprodução Iberescena / Funarte 2014 + Fomento a Cultura Carioca 2014 | SMC + Prêmio Funarte de Dança Klauss Vianna, 2015); “Boca de Ferro” incluído na lista do jornal O Globo como um dos espetáculos de dança de destaque em 2018 e indicado ao Prêmio Cesgranrio de Dança nas categorias “melhor coreografia” e “melhor bailarino”, “Deixa Arder” incluído na lista do jornal O Globo como um dos espetáculos de dança de destaque em 2017, “HARM-ONY” coprodução fundo Iberescena/Funarte e NAVE (Santiago do Chile) e “c h ãO | grrRoUNd” coprodução Kunstenfestivaldesarts, Kaaitheater, Julidans, Pact Zollverein e Something Great; pela intervenção urbana “Sandwalk with me” desenvolvida entre Londres e Rio de Janeiro com o apoio da Secretaria de Estado de Cultura do RJ e com a coprodução do Festival Panorama 2013; pela leitura coletiva “Palavras Dadas” (2021) com patrocínio da Secretaria Municipal de Cultura do Rio de Janeiro através da Lei Aldir Blanc e pelo filme “curto, curto, longo e às vezes curto, longo, curto” (2021) coproduzido pelo Panorama Raft. Paralelamente ao núcleo de criação, Levi & Russo orientam workshops em centros de arte e universidades no Brasil e no exterior. Formada pela Escola de Dança Angel Vianna (Rio de Janeiro), Levi foi artista residente no centro de arte Les Recollets (França), no Programa Artistas en Residencia - Casa Encendida / Aula de Danza (Espanha), no Espaço Cultural Azala, (Espanha), no Laboratório de Criatividade Urbana ON.OFF, Guimarães 2012 - Capital Européia da Cultura (Portugal), artista convidada no programa Rio Occupation London, na London Cultural Olympiad, promovido pela SEC RJ (Londres) e recebeu a bolsa Batiscafo (Cuba). Seus projetos prévios à fundação da Improvável Produções: "Imagem" (2002), "Massa de sentidos" (incluído como um dos dez melhores trabalhos em dança de 2004 na lista do jornal O Globo), "In-organic" (Prêmio Klauss Vianna 2007, Programa Rumos Dança Itaú Cultural, incluído pela organização inglesa Artsadmin no “The top 40 illustrated guide to 2008”, citado no yearbook de 2008 da revista alemã Ballettanz e incluído como um dos dez melhores trabalhos em dança de 2007 na lista do Jornal do Brasil) e "Em redor do buraco tudo é beira” (contemplado pela Funarte no Programa de Bolsas de Estímulo à Criação Artística 2008, incluído entre os destaques da dança em 2009 pela crítica especializada do jornal O Globo, contemplado com o Prêmio Reconhecimento ZKB / Zürcher Theater Spektakel, Zurique 2010 e com o Prêmio PROCULTURA 2010) foram apresentados em vários festivais e centros de arte no Brasil, Europa e América Latina como: Fundação Gulbenkian (Lisboa), Impulstanz Festival (Viena), Les inaccoutumés – Ménagerie de Verre (Paris), In Transit (Berlim), In Presentables (Madrid), Rencontres Choregraphiques de Seine-Saint-Denis (Paris), Kunstenfestivaldesarts (Bruxelas), Nottdance (Nottingham), Arnolfini (Bristol), Teatro Solís (Uruguai), Festival COCOA (Buenos Aires), Bienal Internacional de Dança do Ceará, Casa França Brasil, MAM RJ e outros. Levi colaborou com os artistas Lia Rodrigues, Vera Mantero, Guillermo Gomez-Peña, Laura Erber, Manuel Vason, Cristina Moura, Dani Lima e Gustavo Ciríaco, entre outros. Lucía Russo (Patagônia, 1975) Coreógrafa e performer, estudou psicologia na Universidade de Buenos Aires e artes cênicas no Centro Cultural Rojas (Universidade de Buenos Aires, Argentina) e no EDDC (Holanda). Desde os anos 2000 mergulha na prática continuada da direção. Na Argentina se destacam as peças “árida o estepa” (2005), “El borde silencioso de las cosas” (2009), “Fantasmagoría” (2010), e as instalações interativas “DUO” (2004) e “Sensorama” (2006). Seus trabalhos foram apresentados em diversos festivais e centros de arte na América Latina. Entre 2007/9 foi Professora titular de Composição Coreógráfica na Universidade Nacional das Artes em Buenos Aires, e Artista convidada na Universidade Nacional Tres de Febrero em 2006. Coordenou o projeto Diálogos: Intercâmbio de processos de criação (2006/8), em parceria com a Red Sudamericana de Danza, em diferentes cidades da América Latina. Desde 2006 ministra workshops de direção e dramaturgia em universidades e outros espaços de formação em Argentina, Brasil, México, Uruguai, Chile e na Espanha. Entre 2010 e 2013 desenvolveu o projeto de formação de plateia “Futuros Espectadores” em teatros, escolas públicas e outras instituições em Buenos Aires e no Rio de Janeiro. In 2010, choreographers Marcela Levi (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Lucía Russo (Patagonia, Argentina) founded Improvável Produções (Improbable Productions), a nomadic place of training, research and creation, in Rio de Janeiro. Levi & Russo are committed to a polyphonic direction in which different inventive positions intertwine in a process that embraces deviant lines, dissent and internal differences as a constructive critical force and not as self-exclusive polarities. The work of Improvável Produções tends towards an experimental aesthetic that emerges from a singular encounter with the impasses of Brazilian society. There is a rigorous effort to, instead of succumbing, convert tensions and entanglements into the very matter of an artistic production. The Improvável Produções is responsible for the conception, creation and production of the dance pieces "Monstrous Nature" (sponsored by the Rio de Janeiro City Department of Culture project Fostering Dance 2011); "Mordedores" included in the list of the newspaper O Globo as one of the outstanding dance shows in 2015 (co-produced with the Iberescena Fund and sponsored by the Rio de Janeiro City Department of Culture project Fostering Dance 2015); "Iron Mouth" included in the list of the newspaper O Globo as one of the outstanding dance performances in 2018 and nominated for the Cesgranrio Dance Prize in the categories "best choreography" and "best dancer", "Let it Burn" included in the list of the newspaper O Globo as one of the outstanding dance performances in 2017 and "HARM-ONY" (co-produced by the Iberescena Fund, Funarte / Ministry of Culture of Brazil, NAVE and Ministry of Culture of Chile), grrRoUNd" (2021), with the co-production of Kunstenfestivaldesarts, Kaaitheater, Julidans, Pact Zollverein and Something Great; the urban intervention "Sandwalk with me" developed between London and Rio de Janeiro with the support of the State Secretariat of Culture of RJ and with the co-production of the Panorama Festival 2013; the collective reading "Given Words" (2021) with the sponsorship of the Municipal Secretariat of Culture of Rio de Janeiro through the Aldir Blanc Law and the film "short, short, long and sometimes short, long, short" (2021) co-produced by Panorama Raft. Parallel to the creation core, Levi & Russo give workshops in art centers and universities in Brazil and abroad. Marcela Levi (1973, Rio de Janeiro) is a choreographer and performer. Graduated from the Angel Vianna Dance School (Rio de Janeiro), Levi has been a resident artist at the Art Center Les Recollets (France), at the Artistas en Residencia - Casa Encendida / Aula de Danza Program (Spain), at Espacio Cultural Azala, (Spain), at the Laboratório de Criatividade Urbana ON.OFF, Guimarães 2012 - European Capital of Culture (Portugal), guest artist at the Rio Occupation London program, at the London Cultural Olympiad promoted by SEC RJ (London) and received the Batiscafo scholarship (Cuba). Lucía Russo (Patagonia, Argentina, 1975) is a choreographer and performer that studied at Rojas Cultural Center | University of Buenos Aires and was guest student at the European Dance Development Centre in Arnhem (Netherlands). Since 2000 she dives into the practice of direction in dance field, creating (in Argentina, previous to the foundation of Improvável Produções) the pieces "arid or steppe" (2004), "The silent side of things" (2009), "Fantasmagoría" (2010) and interactive installations "DUO" (2003) and "Sensorama" (2006), among other projects, presented in several festivals and art centers from Latin America. Russo was head professor of Choreographic Composition at the University of Arts in Buenos Aires (2007- 2009) and coordinated the project Dialogues: Interchanging creation procedures (2006-2008) in Argentina, Uruguay, Perú, Venezuela and México, in partnership with the Red Sudamericana de Danza. Since 2006, she has been teaching at universities and other educational institutions in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Uruguay, Chile and Spain. Between 2010 and 2013 she developed the audience program "Futuros Espectadores" in theaters, public schools and other institutions in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro.
