This..!! Not only to children , but to all the fellow human beings !! Yes World is a platform to perform your best. (Period). But never to be considered a race, competition, judging platform !!

One who enjoys what one does always gives the best :)

Yes learnt it late !! We came from a society where we were treated differently for what we score(when young) , what wealth we accumulate, what we do , but not for who we are basically !!

Lucky to have parents who showed all ups and downs , and practically shown us to treat/respect other beings equally and accepted us

😊

My favorite quote from one of Dr. Maria Montessori’s book ‘Education for a new world’.

She told ‘Follow the Child, but follow the child as his leader’

She observed she learned , she contributed so many things to the world.

On her birthday let me take pledge of reading remaining of her works soon so I can prepare myself, though late I should catch up :)

Happy happy birthday to the eternal being ( through your contributions to the world )

* Book Review *
By a young Author/ child author I would say.
Book 1 : Clowning in 2020

This is a wonderful book that expresses Shivaansh, the 4 year olds lockdown thoughts. He just put down his inner voice in the name of a clown fish. It’s so wonderful that we all could relate with the lockdown. There is one of my most favorite page where I could relate to my V ( exactly like my V would talk with “Actually” when he explains something :)
And definitely this would encourage both the young kid and their parents. Kids: to express their thoughts without limits. Parents: to give importance to the expressed thoughts and not take light.
My Vs favorite is the poem that Shivaansh had written in the end of the book :)

Book 2 : Sprinkles

It’s Shivaansh’s first book. It’s completely mind blowing to think that a 3 yr young wrote that. It’s a wonderful compilation of poems. And hats off to their parents to give it a life, and keeping it raw.

Shout out to the family :)

Guys please read it. It is also available in kindle :) Encourage the young creative mind :)

We began 2021 with this new book ...!!!
“ The Day you Begin “ by Jaqueline Woodson, An award winning author and illustrated by Rafael Lopez .

A wonderful book to introduce to a kid, - for first day of school or when they relocate to new place, or just when they feel different about their peers etc.,

It’s a nice conversation starter too, very much relatable to people living in foreign land. It’s wonderfully illustrated with eye catching simple images. Though I would say it seems like 5+ to me, my son who’s 4 enjoyed it. It can be used to prepare him for when he starts kindergarten(hopefully and badly wanted everything to become normal by then). It’s a reminder to adults too.

I personally love that how Angelina thinks she dint go out anywhere like others in summer in a very positive way. The book is so much positivity. Can’t say enough :)

Love this book ❤️

❤️ Being Kind ( to others and to ourselves )

❤️ Living in the moment

❤️ Appreciating what we have

❤️ Being compassionate

❤️Not taking everything for granted

❤️ being with family (willingly or unwillingly 😂)

❤️ discovered the creativity (as we had to deal with only what we have when there was shortage of resources )

❤️❤️❤️ so on and on ...

So let’s not only curse but also be thankful for the lesson 2020 taught.

* Banana Bread *

Long pending wish list from Vandu almost from april. Just kept postponing thinking he will bake and we have to eat :) To my surprise this time he ate 🤷‍♀️ as well :)

Recipe taken from you tube (search for Starbucks type banana bread with whole wheat flour) and the modification we did was instead of 2/3 cup of sugar mentioned we increased one banana and used only 1/4 cup jaggery. Ours was not sweet though. Also we dint mix walnuts into batter as Vandu don’t want nuts. We just sprinkled on top.

Actually started making as Vandu smashed the bananas and started to make all by himself. (He said mommy can you please show me any video and give ingredients I can do all by myself 😂)

Ingredients:

3 Ripe bananas, (we used 4)
2 eggs,
1 stick unsalted butter(8 tblspoon)
1/3 cup water ,
Walnuts
2/3 cup sugar ( we used 1/4 jaggery )
2 cups whole wheat flour
1tsp baking soda
Pinch of salt

In a bowl smash bananas, add eggs , melted butter, water whisk it. Mix dry ingredients separately then slowly add it to the wet mixture. If needed add walnuts.
In a greased bread pan, pour it and bake it for one hour in 325 F or until the tooth pick comes out clean :) Ta da..

V : Mommy this is very easy to make, please make often or just give ingredients I will do it .. 😂

* The Polar Express *

By Chris Van Allsburg — A classic.

It’s a personal favorite as last year my birthday fell on a Sunday, we had plans to take a trip in New Hampshire(Christmas train ride) and we deferred it for this year(and became impossible).

Such a neat illustration, words it literally takes us through a Christmas train journey that after reading it almost daily this December V said ‘haven’t we already took a trip like this (when we never did)’

And my personal favorite lines “The bell still rings for me as it does for all who truly believe”
We paired it with hot chocolate as they would serve in the trip

(Part2) “Difficult times are not to test us but to bring the best in us”

V1 - Aadhi kuty, we can't thank you enough. I know how hard it was for you than it was for us. You had to go through a lot of changes & you are still coping up.
As excited as u were for being a big brother, u were sad to let go of ur space with momma. U had to stay home. U miss ur friends.
But I supported us very well. I know momma’s behaving a little weirder lately. And oh boy you are awesome to say 'it's ok mommy' when momma says sorry for being rude.

Had to document this during the initial lockdown, we were all home, Momma regained the time she spent with you. We did a lot of activities together, you tried your best to let amma appa work. Then mid-June, when you started to play outside, it became a little difficult for us to both be with u & work. It was more difficult for a social kid like you for what was happening around. Hard time for appa amma as well. Then we made up our minds and settled with the fact that we are going to handle the journey with V2 without support from elders.

U had to stay outside for the 1st time ever without us during delivery.
Now that momma rejoined work & u r indoors again, seeing you play independently, accepting that parents are working and being patient during our meetings (not always though) makes me think you embraced the changes very well than us.

Thank you, V2, for being patient with us and spreading your peace. All this while u are observing us and your lightening smile, sparkling eyes, giggles, and coos are giving us hope & reminding us to stay calm and strong.

We as a family are thankful for the people around us. Thanks Aparna Bhabi & bhaiya for taking care of V1 during V2's delivery. Thankful to the frnds here in the community who helped us go through the initial 2 weeks after delivery.

Last but not the least, thanks to friends and relatives who sent us their wishes, blessings, prayers virtually. Thank you to all the essential workers who kept the world going.

All along the journey, we learned a lot, still learning. Evolved stronger than ever.
The most important learning - "Appreciating what we have".

Thank you universe!
