SHE WAS NEVER MEANT FOR ME
I didn’t know my mum was around when I burst into tears.
When she asked what was wrong, I quickly said,
“It’s just a prank. I wanted to see your reaction.”
But a mother always knows. She didn’t argue. She just looked at me — the kind of look that sees through your soul.
I went into my room, took off my shoes, and lay on my bed, hoping sleep would comfort me. But sleep refused to come.
It hurts when someone you sacrificed so much for suddenly acts like you meant nothing.
It hurts when memories are still alive in you, but dead in them.
I whispered to myself,
“My mum can comfort me… why am I hiding this?”
Later that evening, I opened my door and walked slowly toward the restroom. She was there. She looked at me with concern. She had never seen me that broken before.
“Mum…”
“Yes, my son.”
“It wasn’t a prank. I was really crying.”
“Why?”
“Liz left me.”
She froze. For a moment, she said nothing. Then she held me tightly against her chest, wiping my tears like I was still her little boy.
“Don’t worry,” she said softly. “She was not meant for you.”
“I don’t think so, Mum…” I replied.
Two weeks later, news spread that Liz had been caught in a shameful situation with three men.
That day, I understood something:
Sometimes rejection is protection.
Sometimes the person you’re crying for is the very person God is saving you from.
And sometimes, a mother’s wisdom sees what your heart refuses to accept.
Life Lesson:
Not everyone who leaves you hurts you. Some leave to protect your future.
