Twitch updates sexual harassment policy and moderation tools

The fallout of Guy "Dr. Disrespect" Beahm's ban from Twitch in 2020 is still being felt, as the streamer unveiled some new changes to combat sexual harassment on its platform.
In a new blog post, Twitch underlined that sexual harassment "is never okay or acceptable" and clarified its policy in reflection of Beahm's actions so they'd be "easier to understand."
Chiefly, the policy's language now prohibits "unwanted comments" about someone's body (like implied or sexually charged emojis), sexual advances or objectification, and negative statements related to a person's "perceived sexual behavior or activities."
Likewise, recording or sharing nonconsensual images or videos is equally not tolerated, and Twitch warned such actions "may be reported to law enforcement."

Krafton acquires Tango Gameworks and Hi-Fi Rush franchise from Microsoft

PUBG maker Krafton has acquired Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks from Microsoft.
The move has pulled the Japanese studio back from the brink, with Microsoft having recently announced plans to shutter the Ghostwire: Tokyo and The Evil Within developer.
Krafton said the deal marks its first significant investment into the Japanese video game market and includes the rights to the Hi-Fi Rush franchise.

Game performers demand more support from studios over 'graphic' scenes

Video game performers are demanding studios provide more support when asking actors to work on intimate and explicit scenes.
In a wide-ranging BBC News report, multiple actors working in the game industry recalled feeling "shaken” and "upset" after being cast in scenes that involved scenarios such as sexual assault and "full-on" in*******se.
They claimed the industry has normalized a culture of secrecy around projects that means actors are often unaware of what they're signing on for until the very last minute. it means they might not know they'll be asked to perform intimate or explicit scenes that could be distressing.

EA's Skate revival is riding into Early Access

skate., the revival of the skateboarding franchise from Full Circle and EA, will have an Early Access launch in 2025.
In an apparent first for the publisher, the game will launch early to solicit player feedback ahead of its full (or Version 1.0) release.
While Early Access is nothing new for indie studios, big publishers like EA do not often plan their games with Early Access in mind. The shift speaks to how the model could be useful to those larger, multiplayer-focused teams.
Full Circle also revealed a console playtest is coming later in 2024, though it didn't provide further details. It's currently unclear if the Early Access period will be PC-only, or include console players.
