Remember those little pulp balls?
This is how I use them to make handmade paper. . 🤍

Whenever I want to make paper, I simply choose a few colours, drop the dried pulp balls in water, break them apart and give them just a quick blend.

And that’s it — the pulp is ready.

No need to start from scratch every time. I can keep different colours ready and start making handmade paper whenever I feel like it.

Oktober wordt een gezellige workshopmaand 🍂

Even weg van de drukte en met je handen aan de slag. Tijdens de workshop ontdek je stap voor stap hoe je zelf handgeschept papier maakt, met mooie kleuren, bloemen, vezels en natuurlijke materialen.

Je hoeft helemaal geen ervaring te hebben. We beginnen bij het begin en op het einde van de namiddag ga je naar huis met een mooie stapel zelfgemaakt handgeschept papier. Elk velletje anders, elk velletje helemaal van jou.

Er zijn nog enkele plekjes vrij voor de workshops van 11, 17, 18 en 31 oktober.

Ever wondered how I make my little pulp balls? 🤍

They start with old paper, sorted by colour. I blend it with water, squeeze out as much water as I can and roll the pulp into little balls by hand.

Then I simply let them dry.

Whenever I want to make handmade paper, I soak them again and they’re ready to become something new. ♻️

Simple, colourful… and I have to admit, making them is quite satisfying. 😊

What happens when you sandwich two freshly handmade sheets of paper together?

Two screens.
Two colours.
Two completely different sides.

While the handmade paper was still wet, I pressed the two sheets together and let them become one.

And because both sides deserved to be seen, I turned the paper into something that moves.

This time, my pizza became the inspiration for my handmade paper. 🍕

I played with pulp, colours and textures, simply experimenting and seeing what would happen.

That’s what I love about papermaking — you can plan, mix and create, but there’s always room for chance. And sometimes the unexpected results are the most interesting ones.

Turns out I’m better at making paper than making pizza. 😄

A little less papermaking and a little more supervision in the studio today. 😄
The pulp balls are ready to be transformed into handmade paper again — unexpected colours, fibres, and so many possibilities.

My studio cat Polet isn’t quite convinced yet.
The box, on the other hand… 😄

Zin in een creatieve zondag? 💦🌿

Op zondag 30 augustus is er opnieuw een workshop papier scheppen in mijn atelier in Deinze.

Een namiddag om te ontdekken hoe je zelf papier maakt, te spelen met kleuren, bloemen en vezels en vooral véél te scheppen en te experimenteren. Geen ervaring nodig — ik toon je alles stap voor stap.

We werken bewust in een klein groepje, zodat er tijd is om te proberen, vragen te stellen en gewoon rustig bezig te zijn. 🤍

What if I made a pulp ball in one colour, with a core of another colour inside?

It’s only when you break it open and mix the pulp with water that you discover the new colour. And that’s exactly what I love about it — those unexpected colour combinations you might never have thought of yourself.

This time, I mixed two different pulp balls and then brought the colours together in one sheet of handmade paper. And I have to say… I really love how it turned out. 😊

That little bit of unpredictability is part of the charm of handmade paper for me. You start with an idea, but somewhere along the way, the pulp always seems to have ideas of its own.

I’d love to explore these pulp balls with a coloured core a little further. Maybe I’ll make them available in small sets soon, with unexpected colour combinations for you to experiment with at home.
