TUESDAY 17 NOV
PAN AMSTERDAM WITH THE FREE BAND

Pan Amsterdam aka Man Funk is a musical enigma wrapped in an enduring riddle. His creator is a jazz musician from Houston who’s found fame working with Detroit punk rock God, Iggy Pop, and British indie royalty, Metronomy, and now makes shapeshifting, adventurous hip hop out of the music’s spiritual home, New York. He’s an irreverent character born out of frustration and named after a misunderstanding, yet one whose most recent release, “Confines” was a record of truth-slaying, genre-crossing rhymes and beats. So, who is Pan Amsterdam? Everything you want him to be. And more besides. He reunites with his beloved live band. From working with Guts to Iggy Pop, Tibo Brandalise, Florian Pellissier, Kenny Ruby, and Greg Faque (all French natives) have been side by side with Pan Amsterdam. He will be featuring his new album « PANARAMA » out on the label Def Presse

FRIDAY 6 NOV

GRANT GREEN’S GROOVE, BLUES AND SOUL.

This quartet pays tribute to the music and unique sound of Grant Green, one of the most distinctive guitarists of the Blue Note era.
With guitar, bass, drums and keyboards, the band explores the different facets of Green’s music, from blues-driven hard bop to Latin jazz, soul and funk. The repertoire combines some of Green’s own compositions — including *Blues for Willarene*, *Grant’s Tune*, *Jean De Fleur*, *Idle Moments*, *Matador* and *Solid* — with tunes that became part of his unmistakable musical universe.
Rather than aiming to recreate the original recordings note for note, the quartet takes Green’s music as a starting point for a lively, groove-oriented performance, with plenty of room for improvisation and interaction between the musicians.
The programme follows a musical journey through Green’s career, moving from the swinging, blues-based language of his early Blue Note recordings towards the Latin and funky sounds of his later work.
A tribute to a guitarist whose warm tone, deep groove and unmistakably bluesy phrasing continue to inspire generations of musicians.
