💖Frida Kahlo’s unibrow and mustache were a radical rejection of beauty standards.

As a proud Mexicana, feminist, and artist, her very appearance was an act of political rebellion. This is why seeing her photo on something as universal as a Windows screen is so powerful—her defiant gaze meets millions, continuing her work.

She lived by her anti-fascist and atheist beliefs, once stating, "I hope the exit is joyful, and I hope never to return." Frida’s identity was her art, and her art is now everywhere 🖌️

Frida Kahlo's life was forever changed at age 18 🚍

She was in a devastating bus accident that left her with a broken spinal column, broken collarbone, broken ribs, a broken pelvis, and 11 fractures in her right leg.

It was during her long, isolated recovery that she began to paint, using a special easel that allowed her to work from bed.

💔Her art was born from immense physical suffering🩹
