সাহিত্য, থিয়েটার ও অন্যান্য চারুকলার পাশে চলচ্চিত্রকে স্থান দিতে এবং চলচ্চিত্র নিয়ে মননশীল চর্চার প্রয়োজন অনুভব করে বিনোদন ও বাণিজ্যিক স্বার্থের ঊর্ধ্বে গিয়ে সুস্থ সমাজ গঠনের উদ্দেশ্যে এই সিওমেক ক্যাম্পাসে ফিল্ম সোসাইটির যাত্রা শুরু হয়েছিলো। নতুন বাংলাদেশের পরিবর্তিত রাজনৈতিক ও সামাজিক প্রেক্ষাপট বিবেচনায় নিয়ে সিওমেক ফিল্ম সোসাইটি আজ থেকে তার কার্যাবলি পরিচালনা করবে একেবারে নতুন আঙ্গিকে "অযান্ত্রি
ক চলচ্চিত্র সংসদ" হিসেবে। সিওমেক ক্যাম্পাসে "অযান্ত্রিক চলচ্চিত্র সংসদ", শিল্প আর সামাজিক শক্তি হিসেবে চলচ্চিত্র সম্পর্কে প্রতিটি শিক্ষার্থীকে সচেতন করে তোলার পাশাপাশি উন্নত চলচ্চিত্র সৃষ্টির অনুপ্রেরণা দিবে। এই ফিল্ম সোসাইটির কাজ শুধুমাত্র ভালো সিনেমা দেখা ও তা নিয়ে চর্চাতে সীমাবদ্ধ নয়; বরং বৃহত্তর সমাজের সঙ্গে নিজেদের সম্পর্কিত করা এবং তাদের সমস্যায় পাশে দাঁড়ানো।
ক্যাম্পাসে "অযান্ত্রিক চলচ্চিত্র সংসদ" কর্তৃক গৃহীত পরিকল্পনা-
১। চলচ্চিত্র প্রদর্শনীর আয়োজন(মাসিক/ বিভিন্ন দিবসকেন্দ্রিক)
২। কিংবদন্তি চলচ্চিত্রনির্মাতা, শিল্পী ও কলাকুশলীদের জন্ম ও মৃত্যুবার্ষিকী উদযাপন।
৩। "ফিল্ম ফেস্টিভ্যাল" আয়োজন।
৪। বিষয়ভিত্তিক সেমিনার ও স্কিল ডেভেলপমেন্ট কর্মশালা আয়োজন।
৫। ষান্মাসিক চলচ্চিত্র পত্রিকা অথবা বার্ষিক ম্যাগাজিন প্রকাশ।
৬। বিভিন্ন প্রতিযোগিতার আয়োজন(ফিল্ম/ শর্টফিল্ম মেকিং, ভিডিওগ্রাফি ইত্যাদি)
৭। অযান্ত্রিক চলচ্চিত্র সংসদের সদস্যদের অংশগ্রহণে বাৎসরিক মৌলিক ফিল্ম/ শর্টফিল্ম নির্মাণ।
৮। সর্বোপরি, একজন অভিনেতা, নির্মাতা, চলচ্চিত্রবোদ্ধা এবং চলচ্চিত্র সমালোচক হিসেবে ফিল্ম সোসাইটির প্রতিটি সদস্যকে গড়ে উঠার অনুপ্রেরণা এবং সু্যোগ প্রদান।
SOMC Film Society began its journey on our beloved campus with the aim of giving film a place alongside literature, theatre, and other fine arts, and of creating a healthy society by going beyond entertainment and commercial interests, feeling the need for thoughtful practice around film. Taking into account the changing political and social context of Bangladesh, the SOMC Film Society will conduct its activities in a completely new format from today as the "OJAANTRIK Film Society". The "OJAANTRIK Film Society" on the SOMC campus will make every student aware of film as an art and social force, as well as inspire the creation of better films. The activity of this film society is not limited to just watching and discussing good films; it is also about relating to the larger society and standing by them in their problems. Organizing movie night/ film exhibition
2. Celebration of the birth and death anniversaries of legendary filmmakers and artists
3. Organizing thematic seminars and skill development workshops
5. Publication of a bi-annual film-journal or an annual magazine
6. Organizing various competitions (film/short film making, videography, etc.)
7. Annual production of films/short films with the participation of members of OJAANTRIK Film Society
8. Therefore, to provide inspiration and creating opportunities for every member of the Film Society to develop as an actor, filmmaker, director, film scholar, and film critic.
