The metal world is mourning the loss of Conrad “Cronos” Lant, the legendary vocalist, bassist and founder of VENOM, who has passed away at the age of 63...🕊️

Remembering Conrad “Cronos” Lant ⚡
(January 15, 1963 – October 1, 2026)

Cronos was the founder, vocalist, bassist, and creative force behind Venom, one of the most influential bands in the history of extreme metal. After joining Guillotine in 1979, he helped transform the band into Venom and eventually took over vocals, establishing the classic trio that would redefine the sound and imagery of heavy metal.

With Venom, Cronos helped create landmark albums including Welcome to Hell (1981), Black Metal (1982), At War with Satan (1984), and Possessed (1985). The title of Black Metal would become synonymous with an entire movement, while Venom’s raw sound, dark imagery, and uncompromising attitude influenced generations of thrash, death, and black metal musicians.

Beyond performing, Cronos designed Venom’s iconic logo and artwork and later pursued a solo career. He also contributed to projects involving artists from Massacre, Cradle of Filth, Probot, and HammerFall.

The metal loses one of its most important pioneers. Rest in peace, Cronos...🕯️🖤

Remembering Cliff Burton 🔥
(February 10, 1962 – September 27, 1986) 🕊️

Cliff Burton was a defining force in Metallica's formative years, bringing classical influences, aggressive technique and an unusually adventurous approach to the bass into the band's early thrash-metal sound...🤘

Burton began playing bass as a teenager and developed through local Bay Area bands including EZ-Street and Agents of Misfortune, before joining Trauma. It was while performing with Trauma in Los Angeles that James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich discovered him in 1982...🔥

Burton agreed to join Metallica on the condition that the band relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area. His arrival became a major turning point, and his playing and songwriting were central to the band's first three albums: "Kill 'Em All" (1983), "Ride the Lightning" (1984) and "Master of Puppets" (1986)...⚡

His influence can be heard throughout songs such as "For Whom the Bell Tolls," "The Call of Ktulu," "Master of Puppets," "Damage, Inc." and the instrumental "(Anesthesia) – Pulling Teeth." Metallica's official catalog credits Burton as a writer on several of these compositions...🎸

Metallica later honored him with a dedicated "Orion: A Tribute to Cliff Burton" exhibit, reflecting the lasting impact of his brief but extraordinary career.
Gone, but not forgotten!! 🕊️

Happy Birthday Dave Mustaine 🔥
(September 13, 1961)

Dave Mustaine! guitarist, vocalist and songwriter is one of the most influential figures in thrash metal and the founder, frontman and primary creative force behind Megadeth.

Mustaine began his professional career with Panic before joining Metallica in 1981. Although his time with the band was brief, his songwriting and guitar work contributed to early Metallica classics before his departure in 1983.

That same year, Mustaine formed Megadeth, determined to build a band that would push thrash metal even further. Alongside bassist David Ellefson and a constantly evolving lineup, he created landmark albums including “Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!”, “Peace Sells... but Who’s Buying?”, “So Far, So Good... So What!”, “Rust in Peace” and “Countdown to Extinction.” 💀🔥

“Rust in Peace” in particular established Mustaine and Megadeth as one of the genre’s defining forces, with technically demanding songs such as “Holy Wars... The Punishment Due,” “Hangar 18” and “Tornado of Souls.”
