Some lessons in life don’t come from books. They come from being hurt, disappointed, misunderstood, and having to find yourself again.
I learned that love alone doesn’t make a relationship healthy. Respect, accountability, consistency, and peace matter too.
I learned that actions will always reveal what words try to hide.
That patience doesn’t mean tolerating everything. That boundaries aren’t cruelty. That not everyone deserves unlimited access to me.
I learned that I don’t have to keep proving my intentions to people who have already decided to misunderstand me.
I learned that sometimes people will hurt you and still make you question whether you were the problem.
I learned that being financially and emotionally independent matters. Not because you don’t need anyone, but because you should always have the ability to choose what is right for you.
I learned that my past can explain me without defining me.
I learned that being exhausted doesn’t mean I’m weak. Sometimes it simply means I’ve been carrying too much for too long.
And most importantly, I learned that choosing myself doesn’t make me selfish.
Maybe growing up is realizing that you can love people, forgive people, understand people—and still choose not to accept everything from them.
Some lessons cost a lot.
But at least now, I know what they were trying to teach me. 🤍
