"FEAR"
This is the fear we all grow up with. It is not about the monster under the bed or the monster in the closet or the boogeyman. They are gone whenever we go to mother and hid our faces in her lap. But this is not them nor like them. This is the man whom our parents invite to our house, whom they trust with us. Our parents believe them that they love us, they protect us. But we know they do not. It is the hardest realisation of our childhood. Because we can not comprehend the whole idea of fear and hate someone whom our parents do not hate. We could not believe our guts. And that made us more miserable. We ended up cursing ourselves, blaming ourselves. It is like something was wrong with us that we could not understand the "love" the person was giving. That is why we could not tell our parents for the most of the times. We seek protection from our teddy. This goes on and on, we grew up and finally we start to see the actual picture. We hate the person/persons who did that to us. But the agony and selfhatred we hold within ourselves for the rest of our lives.
The worst part is this happens to most of us. That makes it one of the worst fear we feel. Because this fear makes us hate ourselves when we must learn love, wonder and flourish. This fear ceases our growth.
I did this piece for an event called "Delineate of the Dark" on the theme "Fear" in 2020. Sadly much hasn't changed in our society...
