Dear girls, please don't get married until you're established in your career and financially independent. The love of your life can wait. Everything can wait until you achieve your goals.
I felt extremely sad after reading about the recent death of a young doctor who had just become a mother.
And then there is another story , another female doctor, who is also an influencer, got divorced.
What saddened me even more was seeing some women on Facebook saying, "I wish the first woman had been like the other woman , financially solvent and able to leave her husband whenever she wanted. Then perhaps even her mother-in-law couldn't have been so cruel."
Well, exactly. Life is not a bed of roses for women. Be financially independent so that you don't have to suffer helplessly in life.
But while expressing sympathy for the death of one young, talented doctor, you're disrespecting another woman and her journey.
Not everyone has the same story.
I personally went through a very painful marriage, but because I was financially independent, my story turned out differently. Your suffering may not match mine, and mine may not match yours but that doesn't make anyone's pain less significant.
No woman walks away from an 11-year marriage without valid reasons. In fact, many women cannot even leave abusive marriages because of family pressure and societal expectations.
When you earn and contribute equally to your family, you have the freedom to choose peace over everything else.
And I feel deeply sorry for the family of the doctor who passed away. If watching your daughter suffer in a marriage was considered less important than "what society will say," then shame on that mentality.
And shame on a society that makes parents think this way.
