In Barguna, where tradition often dictates gender roles, Khadija's story embodies resilience. With unwavering determination, she dared to defy societal expectations, inspiring CBDP to establish Saarothi.

Khadija's journey began with CBDP's Alternative Livelihood Development Program, offering her a chance to earn income. Driven by her family's struggle with river erosion and the need to abandon illegal fishing practices, Khadija embraced the opportunity. She discovered a passion for crafting home decor from jute and seagrass, enabling her to provide sustainable financial support.

Khadija's experience highlighted the need to support climate-vulnerable communities. Recognizing the potential of dedicated and creative individuals like Khadija, CBDP established "Saarothi" to provide a platform for preserving skills and marketing handcrafted products.

Saarothi is an emerging brand in the Bengali ethnic wear and handicrafts industry. This brand aims to empower rural artisans especially women with a platform to preserve their skills and help them with selling their handcrafted products.
