🎨 After School + Home School Art 👩🏼‍🎨

This term our artists have become inventors!

Over the last few weeks we’ve drawn inventor portraits, experimented with colour mixing and watercolour techniques, built marble runs while learning construction skills, and sketched out ideas for our very own inventions.

This week we finally got our hands into clay and started building them! Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be adding cardboard, wood, fabric, paint, paper and whatever other crafty bits and pieces are needed to bring each invention to life.

One of my favourite things about these classes is seeing how all the different things everyone comes up with! No two inventions are alike, and I can’t wait to see where everyone’s ideas end up. ✨

Classes run:

🎨 Art Taster Course

One of my favourite things happening in the studio right now is our Art Taster Sessions.

This one is for the adults only and each week you get the chance to sample a different art material and flavour of cake, thanks to DASH Cakes.

We’ve already explored watercolours, and over the coming weeks we’ll be getting a taste of acrylic painting, air-dry clay and mosaics.

These sessions are created for complete beginners. The kind of people who have always wanted to try art but weren’t quite sure where to start.

There is no pressure to create a masterpiece and no expectation that you’ll already know what you’re doing. Instead, we focus on the basics, experimenting with different materials and enjoying the process of creating.

With small groups of a max of eight participants, the atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming and never overwhelming. It’s a chance to take some time for yourself, slow down for a few hours, meet like-minded people and reconnect with your creativity.

Sometimes all you need is a little taste of something new to discover what you enjoy.

Friday afternoon: We had the senior leadership team from V***A for a wellbeing event!

Saturday: 2 kids birthday parties, both turning 6 and in the same class at school - just coincidentally- that has never happened before 😂 So as some of the kids were there twice we made sure to do very different things - clay mermaids in the morning and mosaic rainbows in the afternoon!

Sunday: we had an 8th birthday party - the theme clay under the sea! The sea theme is really popping off of late!

🎨 Creative Afternoons | Year 5+

Designed for older children and teens who love art and want time to develop their skills in a relaxed, supportive studio environment.

🏺 Pottery Painting
Design and paint your own ceramic bread plate and cereal bowl using professional underglazes. Explore colour, pattern and composition while creating a unique matching set. These will then be fired and be ready for pick up about 4weeks later.

🎨 Drawing & Painting
Bring along a reference image of your choice and learn how artists use observation, colour and technique to create original artworks. We’ll begin with a fun colour theory activity before moving into drawing and painting. You can choose between using acrylics or watercolours or experiment with both.

These sessions are perfect for young artists who enjoy creating, experimenting and taking their time with a project.

🎨 Term 1 2026 is here! 👩🏼‍🎨

This term, we’ll be exploring the theme of animals.

Students will practice:
✍🏼 drawing animals
📚 create their own art journals and flipbooks
🃏 make games
🪴 make clay pots
🖼️ create a 3D artwork on canvas

Each session includes inspiration and gentle guidance in using new materials, but the focus is always on the process, curiosity, and creative exploration rather than the final outcome.

No experience is needed, all kids are welcome to come and have a go and just enjoy making art!!
