Animal Force is a magical book for young readers about standing up for what you believe in and discovering where you truly belong.

Adopted twins Leo and Kelly are spending their 11th birthday camping on Ember Island, but their holiday takes a wild turn when strange dreams, school bullies, and threats to the island’s fragile ecosystem collide.

Leo is quiet and cautious; Kelly is fearless and fast but when they uncover a hidden family secret and awaken a magical connection to endangered animals, the twins must work together to protect the island and its wildlife.

Perfect for readers 8-12 who love nature, laugh-out-loud adventure, and heart-filled stories of courage, kinship, and the wild power within.

📚 Copies of Animal Force will be available for purchase at the event courtesy of MidnightSun Publishing.

☕ Light refreshments and craft activity included.
✅ Suitable for families with children aged 8+.

Time flew, and our fundraising campaign has now come to an end.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated and helped us keep Art in Adelaide running and maximise what we can achieve for South Australian artists.

We want to continue recording new videos, using the funds raised to partially cover the cost of future productions. For the remaining costs, we are asking participating artists to help either by engaging potential sponsors or through a direct contribution.

We look forward to hearing from artists who are ready to schedule their recording sessions. And yes, we may schedule more than one session when it helps make your video more engaging and gives us more material to tell your story properly.

We also want to be clear about what Art in Adelaide is. This is not a commercial production service. We have been running the project voluntarily for years because we believe in supporting artists and have seen what this kind of exposure can achieve. Our commercial production rates are very different.

At the same time, producing each Art in Adelaide video requires a substantial investment of time, equipment, editing and promotion. The expected artist contribution is comparable to hiring a gallery space for a week or two. Still, the result is a lasting resource that can continue presenting your art practice to an international audience. Our videos typically reach 2,000–3,000 international viewers within the first couple of weeks after publication.

If you would like to participate in one of our new videos, sponsor a specific artist, or support Art in Adelaide more generally, please get in touch.

If you are not in a position to contribute financially, there are still simple ways to help: watch our new videos, leave a comment, and share them with your friends. Every interaction helps us reach more people and gives South Australian artists greater exposure.

Thank you for supporting Art in Adelaide and the artists we work with.

Different Midnights by South Australian artist Mark Niehus explores the many ways people experience solitude.

Through paintings, moving image and free verse, the exhibition brings together different stories of lives unfolding in the same city — alone, disconnected, dwelling, quietly celebrating or reconciling. Each work captures a different midnight and invites us to consider our own relationship with solitude.

With painting at the centre of the exhibition, Niehus continues to explore how the geometry of the human form can express emotion, while leaving space for empathy, curiosity and personal interpretation.

As part of this year’s SALA Festival, Mezzanine 55 hosts Emergence, a compelling group exhibition featuring six emerging South Australian female artists: Stephanie Eland, Angela Harrison, Afroditi Kelly, Mary Patrinos, Andrea Sainsbury, and Amy Sibenaler.

Recent graduates of the Bachelor of Visual Arts at Adelaide Central School of Art, these second-career artists bring a rich foundation of life experience to their contemporary practices. Spanning painting, drawing, sculpture, and textiles, their multidisciplinary works thoughtfully explore themes of memory, connection to place, materiality, and perspective.

The exhibition also features work by Amy Sibenaler, a finalist in the City Rural Emerging Artist Award.

If you are exploring the SALA Festival circuit this week, be sure to stop by Kent Town to experience this dynamic showcase of contemporary South Australian art, or drop in for one of the 'Meet the Artists' sessions to hear directly from the creators.
