Feeling humbled and grateful to be featured as the cover story in the June edition of Indian Sun.

Every step of my journey has been shaped by the blessings of my gurus, the sacrifices of my parents, the support of my family, and the trust of my students. Even today, I continue to seek guidance from my teachers, and I am truly blessed to have them in my life.

My sincere thanks to Indian Sun for interviewing me and sharing my story.

With gratitude. 🙏

Today my students surprised me with tiny handwritten notes… and my heart felt so full. ❤️

After long days and endless rehearsals these little stars somehow always know how to bring the biggest smiles.

Children carry such pure energy, and sometimes the smallest words from them mean the most.

My Natyatharu children fill every tired moment with light, laughter, and magic. ✨ Love my Dance kids 💕✨✨✨

Wishing everyone a very Happy World Dance Day!

Dance is not just movement… it goes beyond that.
We are all dancers in our daily lives- in the way we feel, express, connect, and live. Every living being carries a rhythm within.

From the Tamil word of Ādal, Attam, Koothu, Sattir, Chinna melam to what we know today as Bharatanatyam, dance has always been a vessel of storytelling- where emotions, histories, and human experiences come alive through movement.

Natyatharu School of Dance presents,
Ādal - Weaving stories and movements.

A journey of stories told not in words, but through rhythm, expression, and grace.
Coming soon… Stay tuned.

Choosing the right place for your child’s dance education is an important decision.

At Natyatharu School of Dance, along with programme and performance opportunities, equal importance is given to discipline, confidence, clarity, and nurturing a lifelong relationship with Bharatanatyam.

What sets Natyatharu apart?

• One teacher, consistent guidance
All classes are exclusively conducted by Smt. Christina Prakanthan (Founder and Teacher at Natyatharu, Melbourne) ensuring continuity, clear instruction, and a deep understanding of each student’s progress.

• Strong foundations first
Students are trained with emphasis on correct technique, posture, rhythm, and clarity of movement, building a solid and sustainable base before progressing further.

• Structured and thoughtful learning
Classes are well planned, age appropriate, and progressive, helping students understand why and how they learn, not merely replicate movements.

• Deeply rooted in tradition, open to learning
With over 14 years of teaching experience in Melbourne, Christina, a senior disciple of Kalaimamani Dr. Lakshmi Ramaswamy (Chennai) brings strong lineage-based training while continuing to learn, research, and refine her practice, benefiting every student she teaches.

• Holistic training approach
By incorporating abhinaya, body conditioning, yoga, and movement awareness, students develop strength, expression, coordination, and confidence—on and off stage.

• Exam-oriented yet art-centred
Natyatharu supports students interested in graded examinations and performance opportunities, while keeping artistic integrity, discipline, and learning at the core.

• A safe, respectful learning environment
Discipline, mutual respect, and focus are valued, creating a space where students feel encouraged, supported, and motivated to grow.

At Natyatharu, we don’t rush the journey. We build it—with care, clarity, and commitment.

It was a special and meaningful moment to be part of the 10th Year Celebration of BAAVA (Bharatanatyam Association of Victoria, Australia). The evening brought back many wonderful memories of the journey of the association over the years.

I was deeply honoured to be recognised along with the past committee members by Dr. Shanthy Rajendran and Smt. Ushanthini Sripathmanathan at the event.

Serving as the inaugural President of BAAVA was a humbling experience and a valuable learning opportunity for me. It was a privilege to work alongside senior teachers and contemporaries in the Melbourne Bharatanatyam community to help establish this platform. I also had the opportunity to serve the association later as a Treasurer, which made my association with BAAVA even more meaningful.

Congratulations to the current committee- Therma, Rashan and Aruna for reaching another milestone with the launch of the official BAAVA website.

I would like to sincerely thank Shanthy Auntie, Usha Akka, Ramakrishnan Uncle, and Shanthi Ramakrishnan Auntie for always being supportive and encouraging.

A heartfelt thanks to Smt. Narmatha Ravichandira Ravi Narmatha Ravichandhira OAM (Narmatha Auntie) and Smt. Rathika Mahadeva Akka for graciously hosting the event as Chief Guests and making the celebration memorable.

I am very proud that my students from Natyatharu School of Dance represented our school with enthusiasm and pride at this special celebration.

Participants:
Jisviga Sureshkumar
Sachitha Dinessh
Sathvika Saikumar
Tejeshvi Sivakumar
Thanvi Vegi
Saanvi Kumar

Congratulations to everyone who has contributed to building BAAVA over the past decade. May it continue to nurture and inspire many more young dancers in the years to come.
