Tahnee Kate A pocket full of rocks
A button picked up off the ground
A feather, Becomes treasure.

A perfect Autumn leaf, a dandelion wish
Sunshine and a gentle breeze
Rainbows promise of pots of gold
Toes in the sand, the sound of the waves
Unforgettable laughter

I want to be a better version of me.
I am not entirely sure I’m being my true authentic self and I have decided to embark on a journey of self discovery.
I will start by setting an alarm tonight as I never do that, and that way I will hopefully start a new routine of actually being present in the morning.
I will challenge myself to grab a glass of water and try a mindful activity before anything else. My normal at the moment is to scroll my phone - mining for dopamine… then do a long overdue p*e before heading for the kettle to make coffee. Knowing I’ve woken late and have 30 minutes to have the kids ready for school and out the door.
It’s like I’ve never been able to be a functioning adult really.
How have I managed to get this far?

taking a photo of me/selfie is always a tricky thing. I know people say I’m beautiful but my photos are silly… somehow I always pull some kind of strange face and my family gives me crap so I will attempt to teach myself to take a decent selfie. Weird goal but hey it’s my journey and loving who I am is part of it and maybe my pics will have my face getting smile lines down the track.
Speaking of smiling I don’t really do much of that so finding reasons to smile is a must!!

I haven’t read a book from cover to cover in 11 years… a traumatic event happened to me and my family, I think that reading was something that stopped at that time. A symptom of PTSD for me. I would like to rediscover reading and get lost in books again. Give myself permission to rest and relax and just read a book.

A walk around a block, find a nice area to walk. Fresh air, trees, birds. slow down and allow myself a time out for walking for no reason.

EYES WIDE SHUT.

Living in fear shrouds us in a cloak of silence
Survival is key
Everyone is playing some kind of game
No one really cares about you
Everyone is out to get you

You feel unlovable
Untouchable

No one can reach you
You keep yourself safe by pushing people away

You’re desperate to feel wanted and needed so you do what you can for attention
You say what you think they want to hear

Always trying to stay one step ahead
Trying to protect yourself from the invisible enemy that fear has conjured up
Never trusting, always wary

Eventually it’s all too much

Exhausting,
frustrating and lonely
Too hard

A life without trust
Living in fear
Is a dark lonely life

It’s full of sadness and frustration
Days, months, years lost
Sleep walking
Treading water
Slowly drowning

The darkness of depression
The anxiety that fear creates
Brings with it all the negative
It traps us in a prison cage
With our eyes closed.

I want to
Wake up to a world that isn’t scary,
Breathe slower and more deeply,
Feel love and love back.

It’s not until we begin the long journey to find our true authentic selves
That we begin to awaken the spirit within

Breathe

I make massive lists in my head all the time of the things that need doing and then I nut out how to go about doing them… I never feel like anything is done done.
so I’ll tweek and re-do rooms, the yard, the kids play areas, kitchen, lounge, paddocks etc
I’m always finding more work.
If I sit too long I re-organise what I’m looking at or think of ways to make it better.
This small part of my personality makes it very hard for me to relax and sit. I’m always busy. I can’t just enjoy a space, my head goes into overdrive all the time thinking about what needs doing… and it’s not just the normal everyday stuff like washing, dishes, meals, kids routines etc. Add on to this all the extra work I create in my brain and then follow through with.
I’ll reorganise and deep clean rooms all the time. *shelfies* , new furniture, de-cluttering that ends up being days of moving furniture all over the house. Baskets full of ‘out’ stuff. Moving pictures around on walls. Rugs on floors changing rooms. Plants…
It’s insanely exhausting.
It feels like part of who I am.
I’ll do these things at all hours of the day, there’s no knocking off. So I’ll continue after dinner or when the kids have gone to bed. I don’t have an off switch if I’ve got an idea or I’m fixated on finishing a project that I’ve started.
I like to be busy but I’m tired all the time.
I want everything to feel good or else I can’t relax.
