Well… we made the paper! 🪐✨

It continues to be such an incredible experience directing the fabulous Year 6 students of North Cottesloe Primary School in Star Warts: The Umpire Strikes Back!

Sam and Nichola have been so proud of this cast. They’ve thrown themselves into the whole process — learning lines, developing characters, rehearsing, creating, problem-solving and embracing all the ridiculous intergalactic chaos we’ve thrown at them! Their commitment, attention to detail and wonderfully positive attitude have made this production an absolute joy to work on.

There is something pretty special about a school that has maintained a 30-year tradition of giving its Year 6 students the experience of creating a full-scale theatre production. It’s a huge undertaking, with an extraordinary amount of support from families and our support crew (Kate, Saffron, Jamie and Luka) behind the scenes, and we feel very lucky to be part of it.

And now… after months of work, it’s show week!! ☄️🛸✨

One of the most wonderful things about my line of work is that I get to teach and work with so many wonderful, creative people — on projects that bring people together, build connections and create special forever memories. The power of Drama!

Then years can go by before I see some of those fabulous people again!

I was doing some acting/training work at PPS: Central Desert Group (CDG) - NGO and NFP, walking side by side with desert mob. And there in the audience was this absolute rockstar student from the past — “Scarecrow”Chris! ❤️ (GM for Desert Support Services part of the CDG). I think he was a little worried that I was going to drag him up on stage knowing his immense talent for performance.
Shakespeare, pantomimes, Fringe, improv… we’ve shared so many wonderfully creative adventures over the years. I have missed his creativity, his incredible sense of humour and the joy he brings to a room.

What a gorgeous and unexpected reunion. ❤️
