Take a close look at Vero Coya's mural and you'll find the rhythms of the natural world woven into every element.

Vero Coya | Interwoven
📍5-9 Bridge Street East, Benalla, rear wall

Vero Coya’s mural creates a powerful dialogue between the organic world and the built environment, scaling microscopic rhythms of sun and rain into a striking, wall‑sized meditation on connection. By dissolving the boundary between individual and ecosystem, she invites viewers to see themselves as active threads within a larger, interwoven whole. Through rich texture and flowing forms, the work becomes a call for stewardship - a reminder that we are inseparable from the cycles that sustain us, and responsible for the future we help shape.

Hand-painted lines, a trade skill, and a simple message: be kind.

Mattie Davo | Be Kind, It's Gangster
📍87 Nunn Street, Benalla (Laneway through to Denny Street Carpark)

Mattie Davo brings his signwriting craft to the festival with a mural that bridges trade skill and fine art, proving that precision and personality can coexist. Every hand‑painted line carries the heritage of his practice, transforming a functional surface into a bold visual statement. Anchored by the ironic phrase Be Kind, its Gangster , the work plays with cultural expectations, suggesting that choosing kindness is the most rebellious act of all. It’s a powerful reminder of the authority and authenticity found in work shaped by the human hand.

When art becomes a bridge between generations, something deadly happens.

Anganya Artists and Uncle Chris Thorne
📍Tomorrow Today Foundation 66 Nunn Street, Benalla

Uncle Chris Thorne is a Benalla-region Aboriginal artist whose work tells Dreamtime stories passed down by his Elders. Since 2024, he has mentored young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through Tomorrow Today Foundations's Anganya program, and this mural brought that relationship to life.

Western Australian roots, Victorian landscape, and a burst of colour that stops you mid-step.

Sarsar | Field Notes
📍107 Bridge Street East, Benalla

Sarah McCloskey (SARSAR) shifts from her intricate realism to a bolder, more painterly approach for her mural, Field Notes, using the textured brick surface as a space for experimentation. Framed like an open sketchbook, the work features Eucalyptus preissiana and Hakea laurina - native species that connect her Western Australian roots to the Victorian landscape. With an amplified colour palette and a radiant neon orange backdrop, she transforms a quiet side street into a vibrant moment of discovery, inviting passersby to pause and appreciate the often‑overlooked beauty of their own local flora.

Krimsone has taken something personal and made it universal.

Krimsone | Peaches
📍37-41 Bridge Street East, Benalla

Krimsone’s mural explores the inner landscape of anxiety through a deeply personal lens, using fellow artist Peaches as the central subject. By grounding abstraction in a familiar face, he makes the intangible weight of nervous tension physically visible. The quiet intensity of Peaches’ gaze anchors the work, revealing vulnerability through Krimsone’s signature colour and form. It’s a raw, empathetic study of human connection, turning private struggle into a shared moment of honesty.

MadWings | unnamned artwork

MadWings - the creative partnership of Maddison Gibbs (Barkindji) and Jason Wing (Biripi/Cantonese) - brings a powerful fusion of ancestral memory and contemporary activism to Benalla. Their mural transforms public space into a platform for First Nations storytelling, cultural visibility and social justice. By blending Wing’s street‑art and political practice with Gibbs’ intuitive, intergenerational narratives, the duo creates work that reshapes the landscape and amplifies community strength.

Flowers, gold stars, and a sharp sense of humour, all at a an epic scale.

Jasmine Crisp | Tell me I'm pretty, tell me I'm good.
📍22 Carrier Street, Benalla

Jasmine Crisp’s mural, Tell me I’m pretty, tell me I’m good , delivers a witty critique of decorative public art, pairing lush floral imagery with a cascade of gold stars to parody our hunger for validation. Beneath the humour sits a celebration of her love for painting shiny things and the quiet joy she finds in nature. Created at a massive scale under a tight deadline, the work showcases her technical rigour and determination, transforming a challenging wall into a bold, self‑aware statement about beauty, originality and artistic confidence.
