A Fond Farewell from Uki Moon Theatre
Dear Theatre Lovers,

It’s with both pride and a touch of sadness that we announce that Uki Moon Theatre is no longer operational. For the past four years, we’ve poured our hearts into creating something special—bringing powerful theatre to the Uki community with passion, creativity, and an unwavering love for the arts.

We couldn’t have done it without our incredible team. Our deepest gratitude goes to Penny Irving, our Artistic Director, whose brilliant direction turned the simplest of resources into theatrical magic. To Kim, our President & Stage Manager, whose wisdom and gentle guidance not only kept us on track but also brought insight into our productions. To Monique Ryan, whose work in publicity (and in helping us become incorporated) helped us lift our game. And to Stephen O’Grady, a recent recruit, for bringing a breath of fresh air to our productions.

So much potential in our small, but mighty team. Watch this space - this wonderful team will certainly continue to create art and theatre into the future.

To our talented actors—Jane Thornton, Yasir Assam, and Stephen O’Grady—thank you for bringing our stories to life with such dedication and heart.

And to our wonderful volunteers, supporters, and audiences—many of whom came to see show after show—your enthusiasm and belief in us meant everything. A huge shoutout to our local business supporters, including Happy Herbs, the Post Office, Uki Art Gallery, and Uki Public School, which generously hosted our unforgettable Mini-Shakespearean Festival with Sydney’s incredible Shakespearean troupe, Come You Spirits.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to the brilliant playwrights whose words we had the honour of bringing to the stage: Aidan Fennessy (House on the Lake), Daniel Keene (Mother), and Hilary Bell (Summer of Harold).

Uki Moon Theatre may be taking its final bow, but the memories, friendships, and love for storytelling will live on. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.

With gratitude,
Shelley McNamara (Secretary) & the Uki Moon Theatre Team

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to support our mini-Shakespearean festival this past Saturday, featuring the incredible Come You Spirits performing A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It was truly a magical evening, and we are deeply grateful to Uki Public School for graciously offering their enchanting grounds as our venue. The Uki Public School Recorder Ensemble and Bernard and Noah, the renaissance duo, were truly wonderful. They set the scene beautifully.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to all our supporters who contributed to the raffle, as well as to those who made generous donations. Your kindness means the world to us.
In particular:

Here's a blurb from their website:

We’re a touring troupe of actors – Jo Bloom, Charles Mayer, Sontaan Hopson and Ciarán O’Riordan, with storyteller Nathan Meola, and we perform all the plays in our repertoire in magnificent outdoor and indoor spaces, to music composed by Brandon Read, in lighting designed by Adam Applebaum, with photography by Syl Marie.

We adapt Shakespeare plays to be told by 4 characters, with the actors taking one character each. It’s clear, and it’s magical.

We use Shakespeare’s plays because every character shares with the audience the innermost truthful secrets of their soul, and the language used to convey the wonders and mysteries of the natural world reminds us that we have superpowers; a celebratory return to magic to unify communities.

The actors meet the audience individually before and after every performance, in an ongoing commitment to consistent connection and service.

We demonstrate sustainability in people, in policies, in practice and in programming. We’re a solar-powered, long-term employing, community-connected, eco-story telling, caring career actor company.
