On Saturday night, Party of Apes saw Ben Schwartz & Friends perform live at the Sydney Opera House—and we even got to briefly meet Ben Schwartz himself after the show!

Ben has collectively been our biggest long-form improv inspiration, so meeting him was genuinely a huge honour. Thank you Ben Schwartz, Drew Tarver, Colton Dunn & Jessica McKenna for bringing incredible long-form improv comedy to Australia’s most prestigious stage.

(P.S. Ben does look exhausted here—but we promise it’s from putting on an amazing show, not from us consistently pitching our podcast…)

The Mix-Up” - Episode 41 of the Party of Apes Podcast 🎙️🐒

This week, we took on the challenge of playing each other. First, we audition for our parts, improvising stories for the panel, which happens to be the person we’re auditioning for… And then we used those stories to fuel this week’s radio play.

Is it complicated? A little.
Entertaining? A lot.
Self-indulgent? Absolutely!

Listen to the chaos unfold as:
🚗 Scott tries to fix his car… somehow.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Gabby gets stuck in an unbreakable Scottish accent.
🔎 Luke hunts down a wayward student.
🧠 Matt devises a master plan involving brain worms.

With only a few episodes left until we wrap up Season 1 at episode 50, we want your story ideas! Send your wildest tales to [email protected]—we might bring them to life on air. 🎉

A Quick Update from Party of Apes 🎙️🐒

Hey everyone! We wanted to give you all a quick update on what we’ve been up to recently, and share a little news about this week’s podcast episode.

📢 First up, the podcast: Unfortunately, this week’s episode is being delayed by one week. But don’t worry—we’ve got plenty of exciting updates to keep you entertained in the meantime! Stay tuned over the next few days for more announcements about what we’ve been working on, as well as revisiting past episodes we haven’t posted here. 🙌

Speaking of exciting projects… Last week, we teamed up with Banana Life for an incredible collaboration! As part of one of their corporate Amazing Race events, we were planted actors playing murder mystery characters across Terrigal. The participants had to find and interview us to piece together clues and solve the mystery—it was such a fun and immersive experience! 🎭🔍

Huge thanks to Jaya and the entire Banana Life team for being so professional and an absolute blast to work with. We hope to collaborate again soon! 🤝✨

Stay tuned for more updates and behind-the-scenes sneak peeks of what we’ve been working on!

Thank You for Joining Us for An Apes Out Mystery! 🕵️‍♂️

On Saturday night, we performed our improvised murder mystery “Apes Out”, and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Your laughter, energy, and engagement made all the difference, and we wanted to extend a massive thank you to everyone who came along to support us.

A special shout-out to KJ Fairman for giving us the details of your upcoming pirate birthday party, which we turned into the scene of the crime! We hope your actual party has considerably less crime but just as much fun. ⚓🎂

Huge thanks as well to Rose Noble for stepping into the role of detective’s assistant—your insight was spot on, and Scott definitely should’ve listened when you suspected the right culprit! (And maybe he shouldn’t have called the author of the “big bathroom tile” a moron… )

We’d also like to thankRed Tree Theatree and their amazing team for their continued support, making it possible for us to keep bringing you shows like this. And thank you toDean Russelll for filming the night andJames Beggs Imagingg for capturing the incredible photographs—we can’t wait to share their work with you soon! 🎥📸

As always, we’re off to work on our next show, podcast, and other exciting projects, but in the meantime, we’re so grateful to have shared this night of laughter, mystery, and mayhem with all of you.

Thank you again for being part of the Apes adventure! 🎉🐒

“A well-tied tie may be the first serious step in life—but in a murder mystery, it could be your last…” 👔

In a world of mystery, every knot could mean trouble. Whether it’s a symbol of status or the beginnings of something far darker, one thing’s for sure: this Saturday at An Apes Out Mystery, you’ll want to keep a close eye on Luke George. 🕵️‍♂️

Luke commands the stage with strength, confidence, and control, even when everything around him is falling apart. But in this world of chaos, appearances can be deceiving…

Will his charm and composure be enough to hide the truth? Or is he just as tangled in the spontaneous, made-up plot as the rest of us? Come see for yourself as Luke leads the way in an improvised murder mystery where every scene is unpredictable, and every choice matters.

“A mess of wires and tape and apes—oh my!” 🎙️🐒

Our live show Apes on the Airwaves is just around the corner (this Saturday, September 14th, 7:30 PM at Red Tree Theatre), but that’s not the only chaos in the Apes World! If you want a peek into our other projects beyond the stage, our latest podcast episode, Let Them Eat Horse Cake, just dropped today—and it’s the perfect episode to start with! 🎧

In this episode, we discover that our brand-new recording gear lets us record phone calls… so, naturally, we start calling friends and family to guilt them into buying tickets for the show. Things get weird when Matt calls his “son,” who shares a wild story about a cake made of pasta and horse meat… and that’s what we turn into this episode’s radio play! 🎭

How does it all turn out? Only one way to find out—tune in and get tangled in the madness with us!

Episode 38 - Let Them Eat Horse Cake is out now wherever you get your podcasts.

“See how I promote my show? Very demure, very mindful, very… possibly… maybe… a murderer.” - Gabby

She might seem charming, but don’t let the red wine fool you. 🍷 If she’s so sophisticated, why isn’t she drinking it? Could the glass contain something far more sinister…? 🕵️‍♂️ You’ll have to find out at An Apes Out Mystery!

A single clue from you, the audience, will set the whole show in motion. Expect twists, laughs, and plenty of surprises as we make it all up on the spot. This whodunnit will be unlike anything you’ve seen before—or will ever see again—as it’s only happening once!

Join Gabby and the Party of Apes for this one-of-a-kind night! 🐒🎉 Bring a story from your life—an upcoming or recent event—and it might just inspire the mystery. Whether you want to contribute or just sit back and enjoy the chaos, you’re in for a wild ride.

He might seem charming and fun, but do not accept any fruit from this man. 🍌 Behind the smile could be a murderer!

Matt Driver brings his quick wit to the stage, but can you trust him? Join us for An Apes Out Mystery, where we make up a murder mystery on the spot—no script, just a clue from the audience to kick things off. It’s Agatha Christie meets Werewolf in this live social deduction game!
