One of the special things about bringing old Surf Films back to the big screen is what happens around them.

People remember where they were when they first saw them. Who they watched them with. The surfers who shaped their idea of what was possible. The soundtrack, the sections, the waves that stayed in their head for years.

All Down The Line is returning to Noosa newly remastered, and this screening is shaping up to be a very memorable one.

Renowned surf & ocean photographer Peter Joli Wislon, co-producer and still photographer of All Down The Line is confirmed to join Phil Jarratt for a conversation around the film, 36 years on from the story and the era it captured. In the film.

To see them revisit that story now, with a Noosa audience and the film back on the big screen, feels like the kind of night surf culture does best. A bit of history, a few good stories, and a room full of people who understand why these films still matter. May the Groms share the stoke!

Paul Witzig’s 1989 classic All Down The Line returns to the big screen digitally remastered, screening in Queensland for the first time right here in Noosa. Tickets: See link in bio.

Originally touring to packed cinemas across Australia, the film captures surfing at full speed, full noise and full commitment. Tom Carroll charging massive Pipeline. High-speed lines through Indonesia. Sessions across Hawaii, Java and Australia. All with then 11 year old Danny Wills by his side. A driving soundtrack, raw energy and the feeling of a generation chasing waves wherever they could find them.

For those who saw it the first time around, this is a chance to relive it properly. For those coming to it fresh, it is a rare chance to see an era-defining Surf Film in the way it was made to be seen.

Meet the Judge: Peppie Simpson 🌊

Peppie Simpson () has been part of women’s surfing for more than five decades.

Since the 1970s, she has helped shape the space for women in the lineup, both in the water and beyond it. From founding the Victorian Women’s Surfing Association to contributing to the growth of the Australian Women’s Surfing Association, Peppie played a meaningful role in building pathways for girls and women to surf, compete and belong in the sport.

Her connection to surfing has never slowed down. Even now, Peppie continues to compete, earning multiple state titles and a longboard championship run from 2019 to 2022. In recognition of her lifelong contribution to the culture of surfing, she was recently awarded the Bill Wallace Award.

Beyond the ocean, Peppie has also spent a decade working in theatre, film and television, bringing another layer of creative experience to the stories she engages with.

Meet the Judge: Mick Sowry 🎥🌊

Mick Sowry () has spent a lifetime observing the ocean and the culture that grows around it.

A surfer, photographer, filmmaker and writer, Mick’s work captures the deeper rhythms of coastal life. His films The Reef and Musica Surfica, created in collaboration with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, brought Surf Films into dialogue with classical music and visual storytelling in a way few projects have attempted.

Beyond filmmaking, Mick is the founder and creative force behind Great Ocean Quarterly, a journal dedicated to art, ideas and life by the sea. His photography and writing have appeared in The Surfer’s Journal, Surfing World and Surfline, with large-format works exhibited in galleries across Australia.

In 2022 he published a spark becomes an is, a deeply personal collection of photographs and reflections written after the loss of his wife Sue in 2019. The work reflects on grief, love and the quiet ways creativity helps us move through both.

Based in Jan Juc near Bells Beach, Mick continues to create work that sits at the intersection of ocean, art and story.

ANTARCTICA: DOMAIN ONE comes to Noosa this Wednesday 3 June for its Australian Premiere, presented by NISFF at The J.

This is one of those Surf Films that feels much bigger than a single screening. It takes you into the White Continent, follows the Gauchos del Mar brothers on an extraordinary expedition, and asks what care for the ocean looks like when the story is happening at the edge of the world.

A big screen, a Noosa audience, and a film that will stay with people after the credits roll.

Meet the Judge: Tom Wegener 🏄♂️

Tom Wegener () has spent decades shaping boards, stories and the culture around surfing.

Originally from California, Tom first came to Noosa in 1998 with his surf film Siestas & Olas. Not long after, he settled on the Sunshine Coast and began shaping boards that would go on to influence surfers around the world. From his workshop in Cooroy, Tom Wegener Surfboards became known for reviving traditional single-fin longboards and pioneering hollow wooden surfboards.

His work sits at the intersection of craft, sustainability and surf history. Tom is deeply committed to environmentally conscious board building and to passing knowledge forward to the next generation of shapers and surfers.

Alongside shaping and filmmaking, Tom has also served the local community as an elected Noosa Shire Councillor and continues to contribute to conversations around coastal culture and the future of surfing.

We’re honoured to welcome Tom again to the judging panel for NISFF 2026.
