A little bit about Me
When I was 19 I finished my chef trade and was thrown into Cooking at Mooloolaba Hotel as head chef then Hogs Breath at the Wharf on the Sunshine Coast
Catering and hospitality has always been my thing @22 I wanted a change and came to Norfolk Island to get my bearings and my ancestral lineage understanding
I worked for my cousin George Smith at Smithy's for 3 years castaway as chef and worked at South pac and the Garrison with Archie and Celia Bigg in the early 1990's (god weren't they the days ) on Norfolk 😍❤️
Not by choice I then went back to the Sunnycoast and worked in Maleny and montville where I worked in a beautiful home doing Devonshire teas
then a friend wanted to open a cafe in Mooloolaba Hard clay cafe it was a hot place to go for lunch and create a ceramic plate or whatever was on the shelf as a raw product
It was then glazed and fired and you could pick it up to take home
Such fun days
I was then was approached to open a cafe for another friend it was a exclusive Gluten free - Vegan only cafe
The hospitality game has always been fun fast and furious and in my blood and can be very arduous and lots of WTF moments
I fell pregnant @33 and had to rearrange my life working in a high paced kitchen was to hard I had my head in the bucket from the food smells with hormonal pregnancy the smell of food would make me constantly nauseous and changed my taste buds lucky only whist pregnant We bought a massive oven
And I started a yummy bites catering business for working from home supplying cafes with muffins and bakes
I eventually went into aged care and got certs and worked in home care spinal cord injury support very high support needs clients the was work very rewarding and I met some amazing clients -
I still did catering on the side and our family gatherings were also a feast my sisters and friends can also cook a mean meal and we share recipes often and love to eat
it's all about the flavours
I have been blessed to have been able to re visit my roots and come back home to Norfolk 2020 back n forth I bought a home in 2021 and moved back full time after empty nest syndrome and got back into catering I always wanted my own thing and knew deep down I wanted to bring together plants and food
Fate has stepped in at The beautiful Pines an old island home on Norfolk Island passed down to David Fraser an opportunity to bring my passion for cooking and show casing his island home with home cooked meals, grow our own vegies and enjoy sharing with family' friends and tourists
As our love for food grows we decided on private dinners for locals we are always trying to upgrade and create but as you can see catering has always been part of my life journey and wanted to share that with you all so - it's not my first rodeo but it's one that I'll continue as my journey through life grows
The ceramic plates I made dad back 25 years ago when I worked at Hard clay cafe ❤️
